Stupid CD Player

Anyone having issues with ejecting a CD from the player? Everytime my wife and kids use it, I can't get the CD out! :-{} It seems that after awhile, it finally ejects! I'd actually rather listen to the turbo sing! :-laf I really don't want to take off my mods to have the dealer look at it. I suggested tying a string around the CD so we could pull it back out! Any suggestions. . serious or not?

Is it a store-bought CD or a home-burned one with a label on it? Those labels can get jammed in there permanently.

I just replaced my stock AM/FM/CD player with an Alpine deck that has AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA plus an aux input jack. It was $160 from Crutchfield, and sounds MUCH better than the stock unit. Now I can listen to custom burned MP3 discs, or plug in my XM Roady, a MP3 player, or the audio from a personal DVD player. Lots of entertainment choices that I didn't have before.

I had my '01 CD player REFUSE TO EJECT a CD. It was a computer burned CD but no label. It also had played in the past but got a scratch on it so it would only show an error. It spit out but after a while it went back in... I was too busy driving to deal with it. I forgot about it for a day or 2 and then it would not eject. It was not physically stuck, just the electronics would complete the eject. So I pulled the unit out and it sat for about a week in the garage while I now have the factory cassette deck from my 96 in the 01.

Anyway, I hot wired the CD head and pushed the eject button and that CD came out like it was new.

I read somewhere, maybe here, that these radios are heat sensitive and one of the problems is failure to eject. I don't know if having the radio out of the truck helped to get the CD out but that radio is now residing in storage. The replacement for the 96 cassette deck will be an aftermarket with MP3 capability.

NAh, it's a store bought CD, so there is no label problem hanging it up. I do however buy the heat idea, since it was 90 degrees plus here yesterday again! I'll go out later this evening and fire it up and hope it pops out. If it doesn't, off comes the EZ and the AEM and stock stuff goes back on! Thanks for the come back!

Give 'em a whack!

A friend of mine has a Magnum for a company car. He found a CD-R in his car and thought he'd put it in the cd player to see what was on it. Well, there wasn't anything on it and since the cd player couldn't see any tracks or anything, it would just switch over to the radio. He tried ejecting it several times and nothing. It would just automatically switched from the cd setting to the radio.



The funny part was he and I both usually get pretty frustrated and will knock the hell out of things when that happens. Not break them, just give em a good whack. When I asked him if he had tried that he said no and I asked why not. He said because he didn't want to break it and have to pay for it since it was a company car. I told him he should have tried it. So we hit the cd eject button and I whacked the hell out of it with the palm of my hand and, viola!, out popped the cd. I laughed pretty good at him for not trying it earlier.



Sorry this doesn't help your problem, just a funny story I thought I'd share about cd players.

Okay, the heat thing wasn't the problem! :{ Hey Turbo1Ton, they always say the key to whacking something is knowing where exactly to whack it! I'm going to give it a smack today and see if that does the trick.

Do yourself a favor and THROW the damn thing as far away as you can!!!! Replace it with a real system. The speakers look like something that would come out of the dash in a 1966 Fairlane. :-laf

that's ok TMarszalek iam now on my fourth cd player they are real crappy units the work fine fore a couple of weeks then they wont eject the cd's then you really want to beat the crapp out of the unit well good luck with your's

Which system are yall talking about? I have the Infinity premium sound in my '03 and LOVE it! The speakers sound great, the cd player works well, except for occasionally it does not like a "burned" or scratched cd, but plays ones I have "burned" perfectly well. If it does not play, mine says "error" and ejects it. I have the cd/tape/radio all in one unit. I added a MTX Thunderforms sub/amp system from Crutchfield under the back seat and it sounds GREAT and really compliments the excellent sound of the factory speakers.

I had someone ask me in a PM about my Alpine, so I thought I'd post a picture. It's a CDE-9845. You can see the aux input cable that I extended wrapped around the brake controller where the ashtray used to be.

Hey Turbo1Ton, took your advice and whacked the dash a couple of times and out popped the CD! I think I'll be checking out the Crutchfield catalog rather than beat the dash everytime I want my CD back! :-laf

Mine is doing the same thing! Dealer says it has to act up (not eject) so they can confirm the problem. Then, and only then will they remove it to send to the factory (a week without the stereo) before they will get the OK to put a new one in

It sure looks like us villagers need to pick up the pitchforks and torches and storm the DC castle! I'm beginning to think that if it weren't for the almighty Cummins, I might have been better off with a Ferd! I'd be interested to know the true magnitude of this problem with the cheap-@%$ stereos! I'm afraid that if I brought it in and the service writer told me it had to act up before they could do anything, they'd be seeing me act up! I think I'd camp out in the showroom with my sign!
