Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Stupid J-hook!!!

A buddy of mine has on 02' automatic with an hy-35. Trying to install a j-hook cause the truck will only build 18-19 pounds of boost but for some reason we cant figure out how to put the stupid lil thing on(the beer might have something to do with it)! He ordered it from TST and it came with no directions. Are there different styles for different years or are we just dumb rednecks?
