Does anyone else ever have brain lock? I just spent way too long trying to install my my trans temp probe in the center test port, passenger side. After reading many posts on where to install the probe I decided I wouldn't be able to sort it out, and seeing that many on TDR installed it in that location I decided that was a good place to start. I also noticed a post where a couple of guys tried an install here but couldn't get the threads started and gave up. I expected I might have trouble. I did. I was determined to get it to screw in. I kept cleaning the threads, try, try, try. It finally dawned on me that the probe itself is too long! *()%. It hits something in the back. I'm not so mad that it doesn't fit as I am at myself that I didn't see the problem within a minute.

Anyway, if anyone else is having trouble, maybe that's the problem. I got mine from Geno's... ... Dipricol gauge with probe packaged separately, no wiring or directions. I'm not sure where I'll try the install next, but I'll check the hole depth this time.

Go down to your local hardware store, and pick up an 1/8" close nipple, an 1/8" Tee, and an 1/8" plug, all brass. Plug the center of the Tee, put the nipple in one end, and your temp probe in the other. Then screw the whole assembly into the port on the trans.

Doug, that's exactly what I did - but you found your mistake a little sooner than I did. I had myself convinced that the ports had somehow been threaded with metric threads!
