Cute song - new Day-O

Acronym meaning?

Egad, I discovered a really handy feature on this magnificent computer of mine. The Microsoft (yes, that dreaded monument to individual hard work and dedication) internet software I have allows me to block all incoming emailers whom I designate as unwelcome. Two clicks and they are history!

Go to "messages" and scroll down to "block senders", and it's done.

What a country!

As for the other kind of telemarketers, you know the type that call during dinner, Tell them to take you off their list, send written confirmation and take you off any list they provide to others. Once this is done, they are not allowed by law to call again. They would lose automatically if it went to court, and THEY KNOW THIS. Started doing this (3 times since August) and no since...

nusiance calls

When I get a call from one of them at dinner time, I ask them what time they eat dinner ask for their phone number and tell them that I'll call them back. :D

Phone number

I ask for their home phone number. When they say "No". I say how can we talk, they have my home phone number and I don't have theirs. They usually hang up.

If it is a local business, painter, photo, etc, I always tell them I am in the same business. They take me off their list.

Cary:cool:

I have found that asking them to take you off their list is not effective for me. There is a large company, I don't know who they are. They sell names to lots of smaller companies. They are the ones that call you. Taking you off their list does not feed upstream.

I have two tactics that work well.

You can tell when they call due to the background noise. I open with "You're one of those lousey telematketers, aren't you?" It usually ends there.

If it goes on, I follow with "Do you really think that you are going to sell me anything after bothering me at home after a 14 hour day?"

The house is relatively quiet. :)

telemarketers

i tell 'em i sure could use whatever they're selling--especially since i just had to take bankruptcy, and don't have any money, and could resell it to feed the kids... ... ..... generally a click on the other end... .....

We finally got privacy manager through the phone company. All calls with the caller ID as "unavalable" are intercepted and they have to either say there name or enter a phone number before my phone rings. After I either hear who they are, or see the phone number I can decide to take the call or have them disconnected. I dont get any telemarketing calls since I got this.

I guess I am an old softie (yes I am Fat but not to old)!!! I just say that I am not interested and to have a good day all in one motion as I return the phone to the cradle. But like others if it says unavaliable I don't answer after 7:00 pm. I have a side business so during the day I answer anyway if I am around.

On a lighter note when I was single a painting contractor called and my roommate answered. He tells them yea it would be O. K. with him (roommate) if they come over and get started right away on the painting. They (telemarketer) drove by and noticed how our "residence" needed painting. Said they would paint it first and pickup payment later. He was all for it. When the telemarketer asked for a confirmation on address my roomate said 1234 Branchwood Apartment 255... . Sudden silence and accompanieing (sp) dial tone:cool:   .

I screen most of my calls. My morning chores take about two hours during which I only have a phone if I am expecting a call. If I get a sales call, I just hang up the phone. I did that the other day as I was walking to my house. Phone rings again as I am going into my house, so I let the answering machine pick up. Same jerk calling back says "Faggot" to the answering machine. Having a bad are we?

I filled out those forms to limit junk mail and phone calls a while back. Helped for a while but now the tempo is increasing again.

here's a fun one

I just say that deal sounds great! Can you hang on just a second? ... . set the phone down and go about your business, when you hear the dead line beeping, hang it up.
