Auto trans. not shifting, no 1st and 2nd gear. Checked fluid. Added 1/2 Qt. fluid, ran through all gears, everything now OK. Two days latter same thing. add 1/2 Qt. shifts fine.

I have no leaks on ground. Coolant is ok. Checked transfer case, level is good. Where did the transmission fluid go if I had no leaks. I do tow 12,000# camper in the summer. Will towing use up the fluid some how ???

The transmission fluid is not "Used up", if you have no external leaks or cooler leaks then it has to be going into the transfer case. You are checking the level in the transmission with engine running and transmission in neutral, right? bg

The trans. was checked in neutral and on level ground, the transfer case level is fine. coolant is good. Just got to thinking, the output shaft was damp. Maybe it leaks only when drive shaft is turning ? Still no fluid on ground when parked.

I had a leaking line to the cooler, it rubbed on the frame. You could not see it and it only leaked when the truck was moving. Check your cooler lines at the cross member beside the starter.....

I had that same leak, thought it was an oil leak as it only dripped during driving. Two lines run close together over front cross member on 4x4's. mine wore a pin hole. Since its freezing here I spliced a temporary injection hose between to two pieces. I plan to install two new lines inside a shield.
