Look what I came across

4 bta motor mounts

A bit, I'm working out bugs.

I got the O/D and lock up wired and ready to roll. I put back on my fan with the spacer, and I bought a radiator from Summit. I actually bought the same one you did and I used the extra space to mount my vegetable oil filter. I also installed a transmission cooler. Tommorow I am planning on working on my kickdown cable, 4x4 connecting rod, powersteering problem, and just getting the bugs out. I also need to get my transmission wired so the reverse lights come on, also it will start in gear currently and that could be dangerous. I'm also going to take a second look at my transmission mount and see if I can fab it to drop and 1/4 inch or so, and get it tightened down good. I don't want another radiator repeat so I'm carefully gong through because I want to be able to romp on it with letting my fan a radiator kiss. It seems like my motor is really flexing when I put it in reverse and forward. It leans to the front right corner in drive and back the opposite way in reverse. My buddy has an 03 and I opened his hood to seee how far his motor travelled and it wasn't much. For those that have first gen motors or conversions, How much play should I be seeing? Could my frame be twisting under torque?

It shouldnt flex that much ?

I know in a few of the old hotrods ( small block and bigblock gas s-10 pickups) I had to use a piece of chain attached to the motor and frame that would let it move a little but not too much. Are the mounts ( the rubber part ) stock 1st gen ?

If they are maybe theyre a little too soft. I used some of the poly ones from summit. They are available for the 1st gen motors. They are alot tougher than the factory type black rubber. I know when using a 6ft prybar mine is very difficult to get any movement at all. Im still a little way away from trying it with a running motor.

What did you use to mount that new alum radiator. I havent gotten that far yet. lol

I almost forgot. The poly mounts dont have a listing for a diesel motor. I called the manufacturer and they said the gas 360 ci mounts are exactly the same dimensions.

Maybe the factory pieces you got were gas models. I know when I was just looking for stockers everybody had them in stock for a 360 but had to order the diesel ones.

I went another way when I built my own ( different design but still the poly ones ) but the good ones are available.

O/D and Lockup work

With the switches from transmission center my torque convertor and overdrive are working. Without them the vehicle would go 58 mph max. Now I am going 82 at 2500 RPM's. This is with 4 10 gears. I'll put a few pics up of the switches screwed into the transmission. Im going to put some miles on it and then I'll put back what I lack to run vegetable oil. Then I will lack wiring my transmission so it doesn't start in any gear, has backup lights, and I guess I need to wire my grid heater. What amazes me is that this old Cummins will start in 0 degree weather with a bump of the key with no grid heaters. I know it can't be good for the motor but a person could really get by without the grids. This motor is a 91 intercooled. Can anyone think of a competitors motor in 91 that would start without plugs in 0 degree weather? The new Duramax's might ok but Cummins was 10 years ahead of the competition in 91.

Last stop will be cruise control. I have got a few parts out of a 94 gasser, when I get everything else done cruise is last.
