After 2 months of trying everything we could to find this problem

I took it into the dealer as a last resort. Well I am fortunate that we have a good local dealer, Harzeim Dodge and a great diesel tech working for them, Cliff Langley. Cliff found the problem post haste. the pins in connector C-125 had been spread apart causing the voltage to deadhead against the pins and send a 5 volt spike into the APPS ( his words! I have no idea what this means ) Replaced a few pins and no more problem!!I was so happy I could S&%T

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and help especially my buddies Blair, Cliff and Brad and to Marco for your long distance advice on what to check next!

I wasn't able to find the problem myself but I did learn more than I ever really wanted to about the electronics in these trucks

LOL Chris, I think you are probably the only one I didn't ask about the problem! It was driving us crazy!!

Have always had good luck with their service and parts dept. They sent the diesel guys to Banks for training and install Banks stuff on new/used trucks. This started because of the SO only, no HO, in Cal. because of no HO cert at the time. Get power one way or the other.

I'm glad to hear that your little problem has resolved itself before you, as you once stated, drove that thing into the ocean! I know that drove you nuts for a while and to find the answer sure is nice, now you can enjoy your ride again. Now if I can only find out where that dang squeek is coming from. How far is Santa Cruz anyway?
