My 2002 3500 QC 6-speed 4x4 CTD has issues sometimes. Its happened about 5 times in the few weeks that I've had it. Usually on the interstate running about 70 and take my foot off the go pedal for a few seconds to slow down with traffic, when I hit the go pedal again there is nothing, I hear no turbo, NOTHING. It just seems to bog down for a few seconds then as I give it more throttle, or push in the clutch and rev on it a few times and re-engage the clutch its fine and it takes off like a rocket. Any idea????

Mods are: 4" straight pipe, BHAF, silencer ring delete and thats it. 77,000 miles, guages will be here soon. This is my only questions as of now, other than that I couldn't be happier.

Now down to business. What mods can I do that will not destroy my factory clutch or make it wear out too fast? I want a little more power, better fuel economy, and mainly driveability.

Thanks in advance.

1. If you want to delete this thread RJPotts, just click on edit in the bottom right corner of the text field. You can delete it from there.

2. Check your computer for codes by cycling your ignition on, off, on, off, on and do not start. Look for any codes. If you have a p0122, p0123, p0121 chances are it is your APPS. If you have a p0216, p1688, p1689 then a VP44 is in your near future.

Thanks for the codes, I tried to delete it, it said that it had to be at least 10 characters long. How do I go about checking for codes? Plug the computer thing into the OBDII port?

I am having the exact same problem. I took it to the dealer and they checked the codes and said the vp44 was on its way out. Thank goodness there is still some warranty left!

You just cycle the key on and off three times(third time leave the key on) without starting the truck and the codes will show in the odometer window, make sure you have a pen and paper to write them down.

You learn something new everyday. That is a pretty cool little feature, looks like I'm about to go turn my key a buncha times. Maybe I'll get lucky, but, probably not. How long do dealers usually take to replace the VP44, and, anyone ever try to talk them into installing a FASS or something to save everyone time and money in the future???

Well, I just checked for codes and got this:

p1693, looked on the code list in the FAQ section.....

P1693 (M) DTC Detected in Companion Module A fault has been generated in the companion engine

control module.

P1693 (M) DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC

Detected in ECM

A 9Companion DTC9 was set in both the ECM and PCM.

Anyone ever have this, or know what it means???

I'm stumped.
