Archived sudden loss of power

At lunch time my 95 ran fine but when I started it up to go home at 5 it did not. when i rev it up to take off it would not rev and it has no power, would this be my lift pump, and if so is this availible via napa. This is my welding rig so i need it every day, it has over 375k on it.

first check the obvious things.



Injectors and delivery valves tight?

Intercooler boot clamps tight?

Blockage to your turbo? something between air filter and turbo or clogged filter?

Bad Fuel

Bad Fuel Filter

So on and so forth

Throttle linkage is a suspect for this sort of thing.



My '95 did exactly that once. The throttle rod is attached to the lever on the pump by bolting another lever to it. There are two small screws there. One of my screws fell out. You need an 8mm wrench for the screws if they are loose or missing.

The lift pumps on the 12 valves aren't as likely to fail as the 24 valved truk pumps. If it seems like a lack of fuel, it could be the overflow valve that regulates the fuel pressure going into the injector pump. It's located where the return line exits the pump.



But, it's unlikely that this would fail and leave you with a no start. The spring in it usually looses tension and power decreases over a little time.

If you have an exhaust brake make sure it's not activated.

If the exhaust brake is stuck it will have no power for sure. When mine stuck I had a horrible cloud of smoke. I could not see the cars behind me. EGT was very high too.
