I was driving along then suddenly engine starts with a miss but no smoke, then ck engine lamp pops on, I limp to where Im a here on vacation..Feel like a dead cylinder, Have some tools and a DVO meter in my camper. Code give me a intake air temp voltage Too low P0112..Cleared codes, wont come back or any code for cylinder or cylinder miss fire..Pull the injector connectors apart at the valve cover, Do a Ohm test to the wire and injectors- all 6 read 00.6 ohms.. Pull valve cover ( now I have no test equipment) so I measure voltage to the injectors- 12.25v, then I pulled the driver wires to the injectors to do a power balance #2 had no change on how it runs,I set a code for each cylinder that I pulled its Driver wirer ...were Im at there are 3 mechanics here too which all say its a bad injector.. It sounds logical ......So the truck is missing and has a fuel type of rattle/ off note.....Ok remove #2 injector plus I pull the map sensor which is melted and deformed- Order a Bosch reman injector plus the Map sensor...2 days later the parts come here and I replaced them....Start up the truck, dam the miss is there except the engine is quieter and still had the dead cylinder but now I can hear a sound like a exhaust gasket leak-(But its on the intake side) puff puff puff sound in the Intake side of the motor,So i now pull my boost gauge hose off the intake plenum and feel the beat off air escape from the nipple.....ok pull VC again ck all Rockers and Valve springs- Look ok and so is the valve gap for no adj closed up... pull the driver wire to #2 very little change in the Miss or RPM drop.....I was told by a fellow member whom I asked for help(Thank You) that it could be a burnt intake valve. After checking it all out 4 times it comes back to #2 cylinder and puff puff sound and the pules from the Intake nipple that pules I to feel its Mechanical.. at 95,000 miles of towing to burn out a valve disturbs me,valve were adj twice, last at 80,000miles..Now to have my truck running great and next second a Valve is Burnt just doesn't seem right for there should have been a warning issue like ruff idle So now I need to Tow my truck 367mi home......But before a truck comes for it/Quotes of 475 to 525$,WOW Any ideas?--something I miss, dont have a compression tester/Gauge to use I have EGT,Boost,Trans Temp Gauges and always keep temps below 1200*F Pre Turbo Im Lost and being away from home Rots Any Thoughs or Ideas?

You really need to see what the compression is before you decide it is a burned Valve. Is there a Harbor Freight near you? They usually carry an inexpensive diesel set. Other choice is if you really think it's just a burned valve and not a scored cylinder, find a cap off tool at a Cummins dealer, or remove #2 line and smash it to stop the flow of fuel. A new line is probably about the same price as the cap off tool. Then drive it home. You need to get that cylinder shut off from fuel. If you just disconnect the wiring and it is mechanically stuck partially open you will melt something down.
What you have done so far sounds pretty logical.

EGT at that time was right at 700* at like 10pis boost. at first I thought it was a Flat tire in the front....remove dip stick nothing came out, remove fill cap and rev up to 1800rpm and nothing at all and did this with a helper......This is why Im being so lost about the miss

1st do you think driving 375 hwy miles/6hrs home would be ok.....no blow by, just that miss with it blowing back into the intake 2nd if i smashed the #2 injection line would that be enough and or disconnect injector wire...which one? 12v feed or driver ......What are your thoughs

you have to disconnect the fuel line, if the injector is leaking or stuck open i'll melt the piston. sound like you dropped a valve, i don't think i'd be driving it. renting a u-haul and dolly would be safer.

If the compression can be heard out the intake either the valve is bent or the seat dropped and it beat to pieces, a compression test isn't worth it at this point. Either way, running it all is a huge risk if pieces get to floating around in the cylinder. If there is no blow by then it likely did not hurt a piston but it can if it is run more than idle it up on a transport. Might be lucky and just need head work, or, a reman head if it beat the seat out and broke it.

Definitely a crap deal, no common rental dollys or trailers that will handle that weight. Might try some of the hot shot or cargo hauling sites and see if there is a trailer headed back home empty that would cut you a deal.

Thanks to all,my truck is a Diesel repair shop here in Vermont, Shop thinks its the intake valves, so it needs a valve job at 95k..( Owner is busy says a few weeks, put my camper on the CG storage lot), So im leaving my truck to some else to fix- never did this before..and going back home for now, Boy does this %#$.
.My wife is driving the 360 miles to come pick me up and take me home...
