I have a set with 30K on them and they might go to 40, maybe more??

I was looking at the Nitto 295's but I was told by a tire shop that the compound was so soft, you would only get about 30-35k out of them.

BFG's maybe 50k?

I think it depends allot on how and where you drive. A friend of mine has the 285 BFG's and hates them. Another fella I know with 16" BFG's on a gas truck loves em and gets great mileage. I have seen many with radial pull issues and too much runout.

Some folks just get a good set I guess cuz many here on TDR like em.

Size LT285/70R17 121S The 121= 3197 load per tire and the S= good to 112 mph. They are very quiet, excellent wet, dry and on road snow traction.

Is the chart on the Toyo web site wrong? It says 2755 load rating. What does your sidewall say? Load range? Max inf press? If it's D and 3195, it looks like another good choice.

Thats a good question that takes a little explaining.

First the web site is an obvious misprint because the listed load index 121 does not equal 2755 lbs.

My tires are 2755 and are load range "C" BUT I don't think you can find them that way anymore. I saw a 1500 with that same tire on the OE 17" wheel in the shop the other day and it was a "D" tire.



I bought mine super early in the production run in 03 when they just came out and I think they rated them "C" in the beginning. Now... if you buy them they come "D" but just to make sure you should ask.

Nitto Terra Grapplers

I recently had 295x70x17 Nitto Terra Grapplers installed. Their website says they are rated at 3195lbs, but the sidewalls on mine say 3415lbs. They are load range D. I really want load range E because I have a heavy slidein camper. The tires I really want are the Toyo M/Ts in 35x12. 50x17. They just aren't available yet. Local dealer said they were suppose to be available in March, but I haven't checked back. Probably will this week. So far though I do like the Nittos, just not sure the sidewalls will be stiff enough when I load on the camper. Price is reasonable on the Nittos. I'm sure the Toyos will be a little $$$ more.

Let us know how the Nittos do with the camper. They are rated to carry 220#s more per wheel or 440#s more per axle than the stock E tires because they're larger.

Will do. Stopped by the tire store today to inquire about the Toyos. None have hit the US yet and they said there are 268 on backorder already. They estimate 3-4 weeks to get them in after they start arriving in the US. Guess I'll have to hope the Nittos work for a while. I'm planning on driving down to May Madness with the camper. If it doesn't feel good I guess I can always throw the old stock Michelins back on. Their still on the stock rims and collecting dust in the basement.

Have you consider Interco TrXus M/T (35x12. 50R17LT) or Maxxis Bighorn 305/70R17)?



I haven't run either but I have heard some good things about them.

I checked into the Intercos but was told the Toyos would wear much better. Have not seen anything on the Maxxis. Will see what I can find out about them.
