I'm finally making the move to get back in a Ram but finding a clean stock gen 3 w/5. 9 is becoming a challenge. Not sure if there are other good sites, but I'm scanning autotrader.com, cars.com, craigslist.org, carfinder.com, and ebay motors nearly daily to find an 07 5. 9 QCSB Laramie. Are there any other sites that are good places to search that I might be missing?

Depends on where you live and if you want to travel to get one.
TDR,and other diesel pickup related sites ads will be the best chance of finding one.
Where are you?

Location is IL, but usually travel to find used that are not exposed to rust. That was just about the time the internet was starting to be a good search tool.

One of the issues that you are facing is that the truck you are looking for seems to be a hot ticket item right now. The '06-'07 quad short beds, especially with the 6-speed, seem to be the most in demand and pulling insane $$$. I happen to have one of those babied, low mile, unmolested '07's and I am shocked at the interest I have had in my truck. I don't necessarily plan on selling anytime soon, but I have had several people in the last few months make offers on it or want a chance at buying it when I decide to let it go. One of them is the guy that currently owns my former 2001, so I know the interest is legit. Best of luck in your search.

If you look for low mileage ones then get ready to pay several thousand over retail book. If you are bidding on one then make sure you bid enough... I spent over 6 months finding mine and that was over a year ago... . and I lost several possibilities just bidding up to retail. Hope this helps

I ended up looking at dealers that sold a lot of new Rams. They get them in trade for the new ones. I had to go out of state to find mine. It's not easy. It might take months to find what you want. I got lucky when the truck I had called on the week before and had been promised to someone else became available because of that person not being able to make the deal. I had my ducks lined up and picked it up 2 days later. Part of my strategy was to get the used truck sales person to work for me. I had a couple at different dealers looking for me. At the dealer where I bought mine, they were selling them before they got on the internet listing. I think I paid right at top book. If I had tried to work a lower price, they would have just called the next guy in line. I got mine from Dave Smith Motors, Kellogg, Idaho.

My buddy uses Truck Trader. He always finds what he's looking for. He likes 2nd gens and doesn't mind higher mileage vehicles. The one thing he does is make the calls. Talk to the person selling the truck and asks a few questions. A lot of times he'll know if it's worth even going to see the truck after that. He found one from an older man that just didn't need the truck anymore. The price was a little low and he wasn't getting a lot of calls on it. It was a good truck with no issues. That truck now has over 300,000, mostly on logging roads.

Thanks for all the replys. Yes - I know the prices these trucks are bringing - some over what I paid for a new Big Horn back in 07. I spotted a beautiful 07 Laramie QCSB auto 4x4 last week and just didn't have the time to jump on it before it was sold. It had less than 50 k miles. My 07 was a 6. 7 and was lemoned due to the chronic emissions problems. Seeing several used 6. 7s & Mega cabs but not for me. I'm preapproved now and ready to travel if something shows up and starting to work with a broker.

Update - found it, had to to travel 1300 miles but it's like new, again thanks to all.

I found it was not easy to locate trucks either - finally got a 07 5. 9 that had 52k on it. Flew and picked it up, drove 1500 miles home and so far it appears to be in very good shape. Not perfect but in the eyes of a used car rating guide it would rate excellent - no reconditioning required. So pleased that I have the 5. 9 I should have bought in the first place 5 years ago, just couldn't accept another 6. 7 after going through the lemon process with the emissions and am not going to invest in deletes.

I found my truck in Washington state and I live in Missouri. The first 06 Mega G56 I bought had A/C problems. Ended up selling to someone on the East coast for 3K more than I paid for it. Truck had less than 50K miles. One thing you might try is setting up a google alert. I know where a nice low mile (under 50K) 5. 9 Mega is. PM me if interested.

Sevobuck, Freebore said he found one.

For other folks that are still looking for a rust free truck look at craigslist.org in the states of Colorado, West Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Good luck. Also for those looking for a 6 speed standard, consider an 03, 04 and early 05 with an NV5600, which is much better than a dual mass flywheel G56.

Never hurts to have a back-up plan :)

Excellent. Congrats on your find. Looks from your signature that you found the twin to mine, except for the trans. Except for a couple of minor little things, mine has been great. I'm sure that you are going to love it.
