Sickly

I own an Asus computer and love it. It has win 7 installed (64 bit), a core i7 processor 3. 0ghz or so, some bad *** video card (I dont play games so i'm not shure what it is anymore), 1. 5 terabytes of disk, and 9 GB of ram. I will never ever use win 8. As this is the case, I will keep using my win 7 Asus that is nearly 3 years old until some better Windows system is developed for desktops without touchscreens. I do like the Apple Macbook Pro laptops. . I was an Apple guy way back when and may end up back over there.

This machine is from sometime in 2004 or 2005 IIRC. It runs windows Vista and Norton antivirus. The errors that I keep getting are not enough memory to complete operation and windows is not responding. Then the thing locks up and takes forever to get going again.

That's because you are using Vista which uses a lot of ram running in the back ground. Also the Norton virus program is also a memory hog and slows everything down. I had Norton on my PC when I was using windows XP and had a lot of issues with it. So when I bought the current computer in 2004 (went back and check Quicken records of when I purchased the Computer) I had the Widows Vista and McAfee installed at Dell. I also had Microsoft office installed since Cat would support the Office program at the time for me.

About the 2009 time frame I was having the same issues as you so I hired a local PC support guy to update the computer by removing the Windows Vista and McAfee from the machine. I then had the windows 7 installed and download Avast anti-virus program for free to see if this was what I wanted. I ended up after a year an purchased a license to use Avast on my machine. So far this year alone it has blocked several Trojan horses and several virus that have come through either in e-mails or searches on the internet for information.

Just another suggest for you to consider, there may not be anything wrong with the machine but instead it could be virus and software issues. I would suggest that you uninstall the McAfee and install the Avast anti-virus for free and the Malwarebytes for free first; down load from the internet . Then run them to find any mal-ware or viruses on your computer this may speed up and solve some of the issues on the CP. You can then decide if you want to install windows 7 then too.
