Don't mean to sound rude....

I've been using a Rateck (sp) for about 15 years not the same one and had no problem with them. The newest, about 4 years old has a laser pointer on it. I use it to determine liquid level on pressure gas tank cars and to see if product is flowing on transfers. Works good and easy to use but they are not water resistant. Last one the FD put a protective spray on me and I didn't expect it, Rateck was DRT (dead right there!) I usually pick them up at Grainger.

I use Rateck @ work to Measure the Temp of Extruded Plastic ... . about once every 20 mins for a 12 hr period (while Im at Work) ... . for the last 3 years and we have been threw about 15 of them ..... not saying there not quallity products but in an industral application there definatly not Bullet Proof . and when they start going south they will read a degree lower at a time till its about 20* low ..... then we pitch them . We always have to have another new one to see how low the one we have in service really is reading. now this is going off of the celsius side @ 140* day in and day out.

we have never tried any other brand they may be worst in our application ?

I used to sell Raytek and I see that they are now a Fluke company. Fluke is typically a brand you can trust. We sold mostly the industrial fixed sensors but we had a handheld demo that worked good.

I've had a Raytek for 5 years now and am happy with it. I don't use it every day, nor on the job with me, but its never let me down - nor half the neighborhood ... .

call JOHNSTONE SUPPLY in Tucson 520-624-0991 they sell the Raytek and YES Raytek is the way to go

I called Johnstone Supply and they had no idea what I was talking about and would not sell it to me if they did. Pretty rude to me actually.

Costco sells a good one!

I keep mine in the drivers side door pocket. When you have one you will find alot of uses for it. In my opinion if you tow anything this item is a must.

I ordered the Raytek MT6 online for about $72 inc. shipping. I didn't think of checking with Costco. Please don't tell me I could get the same thing for $29 from them.
