I have some very important trips to make real soon and am experiencing some real problems with my truck. Stumbling on up hill grades, boost does not rise and fall like norman. Apps seems not to function right, but no codes are thrown, nor check engine light does not come on.

Can anyone suggest a shop that knows about these trucks and will work on them! I need one in the Memphis, Dallas, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Mobile, Ala circle. . some where. . I know there are some shops somewhere that can and will work on these trucks!

If anyone can suggest a shop that will do honest work and knows something about a slightly modified truck please help me out! I need this information real soon. . HELP

Cant help you out in finding a shop, as I dont trust the ones I've ever been to. But, sounds like the lift pump may be heading south. Might try Cummins Gateway in Sikeston, but you have to talk to the right guy- his name excapes my memory right now. (Brian? Kind of a cowboy looking type) He has helped me out with my 90/91 pickup. The parts MANAGER cant/ wont do more than he absolutely has to. I'll look up his name for sure and post here.

If there is one good mechanic a Cummins Gateway in Sikeston, Mo, I would make sure he is the only one that touches the truck. I had my valves adjusted there and I had to take it back 3 times. Oil leakes, ran crappy, etc. It won't go back again. 30,000 miles later and it still isn't like it was. They sub out the pump work to Bootheel Diesel repair and they will not be doing any more pumps or injectors for me either. Gateway does the big Cummins pumps in house and they did my big trucks pump and injectors . That job never impressed me either. That Truck is a slug now .

Ok, scrap the Cummins Gateway, then. The one parts guy is good to deal with. I feel the same as dseabaugh about Bootheel Diesel- I'm not impressed with his work, either. at least not the last pump he did for me. He just cleans stuff up, and if it aint obviously broke, he wont replace it. Cant (maybe wont) bench time the VEs, either. First set of injectors he did for me netted me a 4MPG gain, though.

Remember, her in the swamp, any diesel that runs is a miracle, direct from the hand of God. Diesels are slow and smoky anyway, remember?

I have disconnected the Banks box. . for a while. . no change. . (it does seem that the box was not functioning. . ) but don't know what all might be wrong! I just put a new lift pump on... no change. . it sometimes acts like the APPS is not working. . but no codes... then it will be ok. . for a while. . Sometimes the Boost seems to "stick" and the truck will wind down like an old racing engine with an oversized flywheel used to do!(very slowly) So many strange things going on is why I wanted to take it to some shop where they know about these things. . gotta be some where. . that might get this figured out!

Just for grins and giggles, pull a hose off the boost side of the turbo and look for oil residue. Slow idle recovery maybe injector failure or oil leak into cold side of turbo.

PS. . I don't even know where Sikeston Mo. is. :~) Good luck, Mike

I have got to be gone 2 days... and then home... I will pull the hose on cold air side and check for oil! It is hard for me to believe that there are not more shops around that can work on these trucks... as popular as they are all over the country! I would have thought by now that every town the size of Dallas or even Memphis whould have at least one or two shops that had these trucks down to a science!

By the way . . Banks is sure no help... I called them to ask about a shop to have the box checked... or information... and I was told to "Take it to a Dodge dealer. " Or I could call their "Installer". I was given a number that was "disconnected" or no longer in service. . !

Thanks for your help... all... and if anyone has a suggestion please let me know!

Call Ken at 409-423-4623, he is the service manager and one of the owners at a dealer in Kirbyville Texas, not any further than Dallas. They have worked on my truck and are very CTD proficient. bg

Thanks for that imformation B. G. . I will sure give him a call and try to set up an appointment. . I need to go down that way for some trailer parts anyway! I will let you know how it comes out!
