Gonna start bombing soon. Any suggestions for what to do first? Not looking to build a race truck, just want to power up a little, with milage staying at top of priority list. Thanks.

This was stolen from an earlier thread:
1) Guages, boost Pyrometer, optional transmission temp.
2) K&N air filter in the stock air box or a scotty air system.
3) 4" exhaust turbo to tail pipe, preferably mandrel bent aluminized.
4) Then some sort of fuel enhancements, i. e. Van AAken CPC or larger injectors, but not both at the same time until upgrades to the
torque converter and valve body on Auto's, or a clutch on a manual
5) High quality low stall converter, preferably 1600 rpm, and a valve body modifications to recalibrate to handle the extra power.
I prefer the Centerforce dual friction clutch on the manuals.
6) Depending on what you choose on #4 finish the job with injectors or Box.
7) 1/2 inch fuel system to feed that hungry powerhouse, and keep that injection pump cool and lubricated.
8) US Gear 20% Overdrive auxillary transmission so you can use all that new found power.
How's 1800 rpms at 75 mph sound?
9) A BD turbo mount exhaust brake to slow her down.

Uh-huh, sounds just like what I was thinking about 3 months ago. Just improve the power a little bit. Well, I went from that to what you see in my sig in the interval - all before spending the first dollar!! #ad

BTW, welcome to TDR. What do you use your truck for primarily?

Howdy, I'm new to this too, and this thread looks good for me.

I have a question, though, if I'm still under warrenty, etc, I was figuring I'd just go with gauges, filter, and an EZ box (I have a manual transmission).

Is this sane for an otherwise stock truck?

I know, I know, I'll be aching for more power, but I think the fears of losing dealer coverage will stop me from getting too crazy. #ad

Nemies,

My stocker will hopefully see a VA and 4" exhaust this weekend #ad
I am working on getting gauges ASAP.

Should not be a problem for the stock transmission/clutch.

Welcome JD, Have'n't been around here long myself but you'll soon find out that bombing is an addiction not an interest. You'll also find out that a little loss of milage won't make you frown with twice the horsepower that's easy to get. You spent 30+ on your truck so what's a couple more to have what you really want (300+ horse power). All of us have done it and would do it again only with MORE the next time.

'99 QC SB White/Agate Auto 3. 54's Mustang Bed Cover, Bed Liner,BD PNP, 4" ex, 275 injectors, ISSPRO PYRO/BOOST A-Pillar,LOUD JVC CD, boost module and elbow coming soon. transmission upgrades needed soon

i would put trans mod closer to the top of the list , it may save you from having to get more goodies as it will get the available power to the ground . #ad

big daddy , you need to try the EZ again with a boost elbow , unless you plan on getting some banks components . also the new VA supposedly isn't as good as the old that tim got .

Here is how I'm starting out.

I went with a K & N air filter first. Then late last summer I put on Auto-Meter Sports Comp Pyro/Boost on the a-pillar. "Love 'em"

In the next week or two I'll be going with a 4" exhaust, turbo back. Not sure of the maker yet. I want a nice deep sound.

After that, I'm going to do a TC & VB, most likely from DTT. From everything I've read, I would feel safer doing it before any power upgrades. Heard of to many problems. I need to find a good transmission man here in the Portland area too!

Then I'm going to get either the VA or the Power Edge EZ. Can't decide, they both have their good points.

Then after driving it a while, I may go with an injector upgrade. Only if I feel that what I've done is not quite enough.

Ram On!
Chris

work2much,

It's my office from 6 to 6, lots of city driving, pull a 20' trailer about once every 2 weeks with a skid steer loader on it, weight is 11K. I am sure I will put a DTT TC & VB on as soon as I can. Thanks for the comments!
