Suggestions on how to store a spare lift pump

This morning, I installed the new filter-mounted lift pump. I believe the old pump is still in good shape as I did not see any improvement. I was considering filling the pump with a light weight motor oil or other and then capping the ends before placing in bag/container. Any ideas as to what will work best? Would like to keep in the truck should I need a backup. thanks

Lift pump

I bought a used lift pump from a guy who put a Fass on his truck at 35,000 miles, I was thinking the same thing. For now I put it in a plastic bag and in my toolbox. The oil thing is a good idea.
