Hey folks,

I am not to keen on the way my pillar mount gauge pod is secured to the "A" pillar. It is an autometer 2 gauge pod w/ tweeter. It has no mouting clips on the back of it like the stock does. Currently it is just in under the black rubber seal on the left side & a lil bit of velcro on the top attaching it poorly to the headliner. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to better secure the gauge pod? It seems like its going to fall out if I hit some nasties on/off the road.

Thanks

Cole

I drilled a hole near the top going into the small flat area of the A-pillar. I had some nylon retainers and plastic covers from Bayliner in the junk drawer. Painted the little cover with the agate paint. The cover snaps on covering the screw head. Looks Good. Snow King

I used the one screw method. I placed one screw at the top through the a pillar into the metal frame. I placed a small block of wood behind the pillar that the screw passed through, so the pillar would not travel up and down the screw. This also made it nice and tight. I used a hide a screw cap painted the same color as the a pillar. Fits real tight with very little movement at the bottom. The rubber on the left holds it also. Came out nice and clean. No problems yet. Good luck, if you have more questions just ask. Dwayne... ... :D

Try som double sided body moulding tape. If you have to change a bulb just replace the tape. If you change the guages or sell the truck you won't have any screw hole left showing. :)

Ok, I can do the screw not a problem, but i was looking at also doin the double face tape. I just don't see a good place to mount it where it would actually make contact. Where did you place it Mike?

When I did mine I went to the dealer and got a cover for a truck without the tweeter. I remember it being cheap (Around $20. 00 maybe?) and it fits correctly into the holes that are already there in the truck. Then I cut out it in to three pieces so that I could use the top and bottom clips on the Autometer product. Then I epoxied the chunks on to the back of the replacement. I then had a true replacement that fit and looked like it belonged. I don't know why Autometer does not just mold these clips in to the back of their product when they are making it the top and bottom clips don't have any clearance problems at all with a three gauge mount it's only the middle one that has to be left out.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Yes, I agree -- why dont they mold the clips on the back, I did think that particularly strange. I was like, how do they want you to mount this? It didnt come with any instructions nor mounting stuff. I was Hoping I was missing something, but I guess not. :(

Thanks for all the tips!!

I do like that idea of using a stock one, I will stop by the dealer & order one.

I got a stock pillar cover from a salvage yard and used 3M double sided tape to stick the A-Pillar cover to it. The I cut the heck out of the back of the OEM cover. Worked great for me too.
