We've got 225/85?/19. 5" on all our trucks... Running the Bridgestone Rib tire as a front tire and a Bandag all season rear tire... . the Bandag is a retread the same tire and vendor as the UPS trucks here in Spokane...
We average 100K miles on a set... . save the steer tires to be retreaded...
These tires are about 3/4" taller than the stock 17" a harsher ride, but cost per mile is about 50% of the 17" tire... . We've never had a blowout since we've moved to this size... .
This is the same configuration we ran on an F550 Ford that we sold with 500K on it and its the same as the new 08 5500 we now have. . All our trucks are work trucks and haul loads or trailers... we often see 3K - 4K lbs in the bed or on the rear axle from trailers. .
We like the cost per mile, high load capacity, and put up with the ride when empty. .
