I will need new summer tires soon(spring) 2005. I have a 1999 2500 and haul a 2500 lbs. slide-in so i need a E rated RoAd tire. Not for off road but all weather Alaska roads and wet hiways. Also of consideration is a tire that will wear well. I run different tires in the winter. What is the best tire for this use? Thanks

"the best tire" is probably based as much on personal opinion as actual facts but I'll take the plunge here.

I believe the best truck tire made for long wear and resistance to damage for summer highway use is the Michelin XPS Rib. It is a very tough all steel carcass and a rubber compound that wears very well. I have close to 80,000 miles on mine and they are good for another ten thousand or so. Many fellow TDR members are using them and, I think, will express a similar opinion. They can be purchased or special ordered at your nearest SAM's Club or COSTCO.
