How much do high ambient temperatures effect horsepower output on the 12 valve CTD engine?Lets say you dynoed your truck at 50 degrees and 30 percent relative humidity ,then drove it down here and dynoed it at 95 degrees and 90 percent relative humidity. What would be the difference?1 %,2 % ?Less air =less power ,right?Just curious guys. I' m not moving. I know from experience Detroit powered crewboats pick up a knot or so when the cold fronts come through. Please dont tell me I'm losing it. :p

I have read it is about 1% for each 10 deg. That is why it helps to have air from outside, and not under the hood, feeding the engine.

Treven.

I've read the same as Treven but there's more. Optimum post intercooler air temps are 50-90°, below 50° you also lose approximately 1% every 10° drop. That why I use underhood air in the northern winter, have seen intake temps as low as 20° after warmup using outside air.
