I have not owned or used one, however OTC (Owantonna Tool Company) makes good products. Asking about this is not a good sign tho, are you having issues with your new engine? Usually a compression test just confirms what you already suspect so save your money and go with your troubleshooting skill:)

No, not really. :-laf I am trying to talk myself out of spending the $$$ to rebuild my original engine. I want to verify the replacement engine's health, because I got it 3rd hand. Supposedly it only had 130k on it, but both the front crank and rear main had been leaking. I had a blowby check done on it and it raised 4" of water, which is well within limits. Then again, my old engine had very little blowby:confused: So, before I make a final decision I thought I'd do compression and leak down checks on it.

A leak down tester will tell you more of the condition of rings, cylinders and valves. Only draw back is you have to disable the rocker arms for checking anything but TDC and you also need an air compressor.

I have a compressor and finding TDC of each piston is easy.
