Sounds to me like they feeding you a line, I don't see how diesel or gas should make any difference, you need to keep on hassling them.

I think they are feeling you full of crap. There should be no difference between the guages. Good thing you did not run water thru it. Might have blown the whole truck up. #ad

I thought that diesel was less harmful than gasoline? I know that it's not nearly as abrasive because diesel has SOME oil-like qualities.

I had the same setup as you and it also blew out the sending unit. I got mine from JEG's. JEG's wanted me to call the Autometer tech line to see what they thought was wrong. The tech said that these sending units are designed for 1000 PSI. Yes, 1,000. Anyway, I decided not to mess with it any more and JEG's took it back after I had it for 87 days. Great company.

Call Autometer and ask them yourself. Summit is full of ****. Gasoline is alot more aggressive to seals then diesel fuel. They are lying to you are hoping you go away. Fight them all the way. I have spoke to Autometer Tech department numerous times and you can use ANY of there gauges on any type of vehicle. Good luck and dont give up

Call Autometer, they should take care of you on that. I avoid Summit like the plague, they are the WalMart of the autoparts world. You might save a few dollars but their phone reps are lacking in knowledge and manners and their customer service is poor.

Order your Autometer stuff through DIS, may cost a few dollars more but they will take care of your. I had a problem with an Autometer product and they shipped a replacement before they had the defective one returned.

I had the AutoMeter #4361 15psi gauge & sending unit kit in my truck ($190. 00) and the sending unit blew out, sending diesel fuel into the cab thru the wire sheath. Some of you may recall my post on that subject...
Called them up, they said send it in, it's under warranty. Got a letter back from them today, denying the replacement, because it's not acceptable to use for diesel applications. Why did they tell me it was, on the phone, when I ordered it?
Anybody else out here have this particular kit installed, or is there another one made by AutoMeter that's approved for diesel?

Thanks for the support, guys. Well, I finally got through to a rep at Summit today. They called AutoMeter... Summit says AutoMeter will reimburse them this one last time, but no more for me or anyone else using it in a diesel application... At least that's what Summit claims they said. I ran out of time, and will have to wait until next week to call AutoMeter myself, and see if they do indeed make a gauge & sending unit for my application. Think about this: I'm not the only one who has blown a sending unit. And mine was mounted remotely, away from the pump and engine!
DIS is selling them? Guess that's another place I need to call.
Summit is refunding the $$$ to my credit card, they refuse to replace the gauge & kit.

Briar,

I don't know if DIS stocks that Autometer part number but if they don't they will order it or have it drop shipped from the factory.

I am going to call Automter today as soon as they open and ask about the deal with fuel pressure gauges. I have used there electric sender style gauges and the more accurate mechanical isolator equipped versions on diesels before and i even asked them by phone if this was a problem and they said "No, not as all". I will see why Summit is causing trouble and ill post it here ASAP.

Hi all, just got off the phone with Autometer Tech. They said they are aware of the problem with Summit and the TDR member and he said "Summit was wrong to say the gauge cant be used on a diesel,Its perfectly ok, diesel fuel will not hurt the sender. but if you are not sure what your maximum fuel pressure is, they dont recomend the 15 psi version" They are fine to use on diesels BUT, on the 15psi electric version with the sender, (p/n 4361) the sender can can only tolerate fuel pressures up to 25 PSI. And that is the Maximum, so if you are seeing fuel pressures approaching even 22psi you may want to consider getting a different sender (call Autometer at 815-895-8141) or even better, forget the electric version and get a more reliable and more accurate (Alot cheaper too!) mechanical version with the isolator which keeps all the fuel pressure safely in the engine compartment. The isolator looks really nice too. That version is Summit P/N ATM-3313 and the price is $99. 95. Just dont forget to order AN line and the fiting to attatch it to your engine.

Good info EMDDIESEL! Do you have a specific AN line that you are using? Thanks,
