Looks like another victim of the wonderful additon of chemical salt that our states use on the road in the wintertime. No electrical grease inside and the salt gets in there and swells everything up and the next thing you know, trick headlights and problems removing them.

They say they do it to keep the roads safe in the winter,I say they do it to try and force us to buy new vehicles every 3 years so we do not have to screw with what gets messed up due to their chemicals... ... . Andy

Could the bulbs have got hot enough to melt the socket to the bulb? Since you tried heat I guess water in the bulb socket and freezing; could not be the problem maybe corrosion?

any chance this works on a 92' model i have the same issue or if not maybe i can modify a harness going off this one. . thanks. .

The H. I. D lighing kits have come down in price, I'd hate too dump $103 for suvlights dual battery harness. For $50 bucks more you can score a decent H. I. D kit.

I dunno

the SUV harness is well made and is USA hand made product from Cal, tough to beat it with clear sport lenses and good bulbs in a second gen truck,

plugs in and works no hassles.

Hemi I tried the HID kit and a good one in a second gen, in short, what a turd product! even in clear lenses.

Anyone know what year Dodge started putting in factory headlight harness relays?

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but... a few years ago I installed this same Summit Racing harness, and it wasn't long until a headlamp blew. I upgraded to some PIAA bulbs, and immediately blew another. In trying to diagnose the issue, I decided to remove the harness. The plastic used in the harness had welded itself to the factory plugs and it came apart in pieces (junk). (Hint: those of you installing this may want to use some silicone grease at the electrical connections for future dissassembly) The connectors were very clean - corrosion was not the issue here - and we don't use salt on our roads up here. After removing the harness, I've had no more headlight issues.

I never did notice much of a difference in light output (maybe a tad brighter), but then I do think (not sure) my truck has relays already (I never took the time to figure that out - just threw the harness on as PM). The headlight switch gets warm, but not hot, and I've had no issues with it for 156k miles.

I guess the reason for my post, is that I'm not convinced that every 2nd gen truck needs another relay harness as mentioned above. Maybe someone who knows Dodge's wiring more than I can chime in and set us straight before others install this harness needlessly like I think I did.

H.I.D 's are wonderful

First pic: Summit harness. Top of the line Piaa bulbs. Clear aftermarket headlight lenses. Note the tape to align the lights to factory spec.

PIAA 19614 - PIAA Xtreme White Plus Light Bulbs - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Second pic: Deep Blue 10,000 Kelvin H. I. D's

Bought my kit @ Premium Xenon HID Kit (2 Year Warranty) - HID Country!

Was going to buy the 20,000K True blue or True Pruple. Tech guy said NO You won't be happy w/ the light output. Same goes for 12,000K violet. Said 10,000K Deep blue is the whitest & brightest. Bought the dual filament bulbs. Tech said high beam may or may not work w/ a single. It's a plug & play, but time consuming due to very limited room to get bulbs in & out of lense. Lot of spaghetti on left side forward of battery w/ nowhere to really put it. With truck off, turn on high beams and you can hear the electromagnet SNAP to switch to the highs.

A strong buy.
