Hadi,
Let me ask you a few questions relevant to this topic not already adressed.
1) What is the gear ratio of your hummer vs the gear ratio on the Dodge Ram?
2) Which gear ratio is going to put more stress on the transmission?
5. 67 or 3. 55
3) Are what RPM are you operating this transmission at?
4) Which rpm is going to put more load on the transmission 1500rpms, or 3000rpms?
All of the above play an important in role in a transmission technicians decision on what is the best product for each application.
As you and I discussed , these all played a key role in my recommendation to you.
Keep in mind SunCoast is still using and selling to the Dodge Ram owners outdated technology converters simply because they can do the milling process for about $35.
I wasnt going to comment on this thread but my last customer just left here , he is on his way back to Texas, what he went through ticked me off.
He, in good faith, had a Suncoast Converter and a BD transmission installed at Macs RV in FT. Worth Texas about 8 months ago.
He drove up to Canada all the while thinking that his new Suncoast converter was no good or his transmission was on its way out as he couldnt get his truck work properly, as he thought he had stock hp.
Before comming to my shop he went to BD and had his truck dynoed, it dynoed out at 290hp,
I took his transmission out and looked at it, i could not find anything wrong other that a couple of clearance that didnt meet my specs.
Next step was to have the tc cut open in front of him, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the converter.
It was exactly what i expected. Now you guys tell me, how do you tell a guy that just paid $4500. to have all that work done in Texas, that what he got was a fancy front cover converter with a milled stator inside.
The converter was functioning within its capacity, it's oem milled stator was not capable of transfering the power of the cummins unless in lock up.
I bought the TC from Jeff, while it is of no use to us even as a core, i intend to bring it to May Madness.
I have asked Joe Donnely to invite Suncoast,Protorque, BD, Dunrite , all of them to help me understand how they can in good concience do this.
This is not about making mistakes, i make mistakes, we all make mistakes. This is being done deliberately. Hopefully during May madness in Vegas we can by better understanding how a tc works , and what the rationale is for companies still building these tc's, .
All i can say is do your homework, dont listen soley to what i have to say, ask questions, talk amongst yourselves, road test one anothers vehicles, and you will definately be better off.
Some of the questions you should be asking of these TC manufactures are :
1)By milling the oem stator are you increasing the torque multiplication or decreasing the torque multiplication?
2)By milling the oem stator are you increasing or decreasing the amount of heat generated?
3)By milling the oem stator are you increasing the tc efficiency or decreasing it. ?
And really listen closely to their answers.
Sometimes what you dont hear speaks volumes.
