Is anyone using the suncoast pro-loc TC? I need to upgrade my trans to handle more torque since installing raptor box and suncoast ads look like they have a good product but I'd like to hear from someone using them. I'll need a vb also. I tow from 9000 to 11000# (fifth wheel and equipment trailer). TIA:confused:

I used a Suncoast TC and VB and my auto lasted 150 miles after they were in. I was mildly BOMBEd to 350 then and it toasted my auto. If I were you I would look more into DTT. After that whole auto incident I now have a 5 spd in there.

I run one and love it !Nice and tight just like they should be. I'm running a 1700 stall and it's perfect for my application.

A friend of mine orderd one with a 1500stall for his 12 valve and it was a little tight for a stock truck but there is no way he would trade it.

Last time I checked I had over 30 k on it with no problems at all.

I tow an older 28. 5 5'ver with a 16 ft boat behind and it works great.

I'm not slammin DTT or the others because can't say I tried them all. The next time I'm out west I will try to talk real nice to BILL and see if he would let me test drive one his that he has around the shop. From everything I read he has taken the TC to next level. Until then I don't know which is better but he has quite a following.

As far as the Suncoast my experience is AOK.

Thanks for the info guys. It seems that I may need to look further into DTT. It's just that my favorite local shop uses Suncoast and I wanted to let them install but that may not be the best way to go. Thanks again.

Did Suncoast do this modification in their shop or was it done some where else. If it wasn't a Suncoast shop installation you may have experienced a installer induced failure. I would like a answer to this as I am seriously considering a Suncoast system, and now you have made me nervous. :( :(

Keep in mind guys we are talking about an auto transmission and they will eventually die no matter what we do to them. Even manuals with enough miles and power behind them will need work at some point, just not as soon as an auto. Everything mechanical is prone to failure.

Edit: I read the post wrong so I deleted my last response, Sorry.

I had a Suncoast V/B & Pro-Loc torque converter installed at the Suncoast shop in the panhandle. I am very happy with the results. The service was outstanding, and I have not had any problems of any kind. It was like getting a new truck. :) :)

I have a local trans shop that installed a Transgo diesel shift kit in my truck. I have an EZ and the TC was starting to slip. I talked with the guy and he installs nothing but Suncoast products. He said that Suncoast includes the shift kit with all of there TC's. I didn't have the money for the full upgrade so he put in the shift kit until I can afford the TC. I was wondering if the shift kit would be sufficient or if I needed a completely upgraded VB when the TC goes in. He has been very upfront with me and said he would warranty his work for two years, unlimited miles along with the Suncoast warranty so I feel secure about his work. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Also what stall wouldl I need to get. I tow maybe five times a year and never over 7000 lbs. I am planning on installing DDII's down the road after the transmission is finished.

You should call Joe Webb at Suncoast 1 800 868-0053. He will be more than happy to answer all of your questions. I would recommend them to anyone. :)

Jvann,

I would ask DPEREA, he is a TDR member, his truck was done for a TDR artical with suncoast products and he has ours (DTT's) set-up in his truck now. He would be a good source to find out the differences as he has tried them both. Hope this helps.

I take it back

I shouldn't have said what I said about Suncoast stuff. After some thinking and asking around, with the circumstances that my transmission failed, it was most likely that my transmission was on its way out well before I did any mods. I flamed Suncoast and shouldn't have. I have heard many good things about their products and in my case with my driving something went wrong. Please don't take what I wrote in my other post to persuade your product choices. All vendors that carry Suncoast, I am sorry If my stupid post hurt business in any way. :(
