The cheap, poorly designed latch clip on the overhead sunglasses holder finally broke, less than 2 years of fairly ordinary service. Didn't set any codes though:D Maybe now I know how Lizzyhermit felt when his garment hook broke:{ Shameful, yet embarrassing. What's going to go next, the cupholder?

Should I pester the dealer for a free replacement?

Or should I just re-engineer the dang thing? I'm thinking magnets!

In the meantime, I'll just keep my sunvisors down so no one can see this example of Dodge quality;)

I have been through several of those before I found a cure for it. Get a new one, then glue a small piece of foam (something slightly rigid) inside the crotch of the latch, this restricts the over flexing of the latch, and protects the tiny little POS from breaking again. :)

After replacing mine, I've just opted to stop using it. I figure that it was only intedended for looks otherwise DC would have designed it better. I rate it right up there with the plastic hinges on the center console.

I thought I was the only one with bad luck. Just yesterday I opened up mine an that damn little clip fell right off. Now the door hangs down and looks like crap. Guess I will have to go to the ******* to get a new one. Hopefully the will sell just the door and not a complete overhead console part. I wonder what will be next? Has anyone tried to fix the broken clip and succeeded?

When mine broke, with 25,000 mi. , the dealer replaced it free of charge. I don't know how often he would be willing to do that, but there's obviously a design flaw. I'm going to try the trick mentioned to prevent over-flexing.

Europe?

Is that really you?

... . consider going where the sun don't shine

I don't believe that the sun is ever suppose to shine on the sunglass holder.

Yes David, it's really me, you'd never believe how busy I've been just recently... it now looks like I'm going to be visiting the Seattle and Palo Alto areas around the middle of November on business, so who knows, I might get to buy you that long promised beer :D as well as replenishing my boonie box.

John, definitely look me up when you get here. Also, if you have any pull, try to be in the area on the third Tuesday as this is when the local Ramrunner's meet. I can also show you what a real bumper looks like. ;)

Hey, I reckon I could swing that, only problem is that it's pretty close to Thanksgiving and travel gets very crazy or unavailable and best to be avoided at all costs... . The Ram Runners meet on 3rd Tuesday is very tempting, although I will be travelling "Commando"

I'llhave a better idea of my schedule when I get back from Germany next weekend. BTW, those Buckstop front bumper pix are very tasty - my UTE is now crossing the Bay of Biscay just west of France and gets into Southampton in a few days time, so it'll be next week and almost 1 year to the day since I ordered it. Now if I can just get it installed and post mine on the TDR before you do.....
