Well, today is a sad, sad, day. I was backing our trailer into the water this evening, my foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator, flooring it. The sudden jolt backwards through me forwards and I smacked my head on the a-pillar grab handle. I blacked out and the next thing I remember is water coming through the window, the doors would not open, so I climbed out the window. I crawled up the boat ramp in time to see my headlights going under :{

The tow-truck driver and witnesses said I am pretty lucky, and that the truck is most likely a total loss :( Although my truck and everything inside is completely ruined, I am in pretty decent spirits knowing that someone was watching over me.

Here are some pics:

The first one you can see the tow-truck drivers head, he had to swim out to the truck :--)

The second one is when he was winching it out :{

WOW , I'd be devastated . Well , you made it out ok and there will be another truck sooner or later. Boat ramps are known for their entertainment potential and for $7 some would have gotten their money's worth.

Good Luck.

Ouch... sorry about your luck but at least your ok.

Did they make you pay the $7 dollar launch fee for the truck? :-laf

I was actually trying to get the boat out of the water after being on it this afternoon... . So I got my $7 worth, and so did everone else. I called Progressive and filed a claim. This is the first claim I have ever made, how does this stuff work? I am supposed to recieve a call from the adjuster by 10AM tomorrow. Do you think it will be totalled, or can they dry/replace everything? As much as I love my truck, I don't think I could depend on it water damage and then repairing. What do you think?

John :(

Nothing a 1800 watt hair blower can't fix. Is this for real? I've seen pic's in the back of a boat magizine of boat launches gone bad. This ones got to be a winner. Hope the insurence co. comes thru. That would be #10 on my worst day ever list. Did they refund your $7. 00 launch fee?

Joking aside if this is for real you were definetly lucky you didn't drown. Sorry for the loss.

Most of the water damaged (all the way) trucks I have seen have been Totaled... The electronics are just too hard to replace along with the turbo

I wonder if the EZ survived? It is fully encased in glue I think,

I feel for ya, Hope your luck turns around

SALT WATER? Is one of the main concerns , but with todays massive amounts of electronics in vehicles it will most likely be totaled and then sold under a rebuilt title.

I don't have a boat, but remind me to hang out at boat ramps more often ... ... ... ... ... heck, I thought watching people back a horse trailer/camper was funny :-laf

All kidding aside, these things happen and at least nobody was hurt ... ... ... ... . material things can be replaced!!!

You don't want a vehicle that has been under water, was it salt water?

In any event, about a year or two down the road the wiring will start to corrode and the vehicle will catch on fire and that will be the end of it.

Sadly, yes, this is for real... . I don't blame you for calling BS, I would to. But this is not one of those photoshops. Here are some before pics, the only difference is a headache rack that I took off a month ago or so.

Well, we might give you the Bomb-of-the-year award for this amphibian truck. Hope your insurance co will cover your loss & bring you a new truck. Dan

Oh, that hurts! I've seen some bad stuff at boat ramps, but OUCH! I'm glad you're OK and were able to get out. Do they make Cummins marine heads for 3g's? :{ Good luck with the insurance. Let us know what happens.

I think I'd cry! Well, as Larry the Cable Guy says, "sometimes you gotta wreck to truck to get the insurance money to pay the truck payment. " I'm still upside down on mine, don't think I could deal with that happening. I don't really believe that I could do it though.

Glad you're ok, it could've been worse. Like other people said, materials aren't that important, although a truck like that is close...

At least you can reuse some of your stuff, bumpers and such.

Bummer, I'm glad your okay, that's the main thing. Start thinking new truck and what you would do different. Maybe a 3500 SRW, Maybe a dually or a Laramie. I like the flame red, that's what I have. As far a 6 speed, I sure hope you can still get the NV5600. As for you foot slipping of the brake that had happened to me a few times, except it's off the clutch each time when my shoes are wet. Yes Albuquerque, we do get rain sometimes. I keep thinking of some way to prevent that before I do some damage. Grizzly :rolleyes:

It's a goner......

John sorry about your truck buddy, that stinks. I manage 10 auto adjusters and deal with this stuff every day. Our company policy is, any saltwater intrusion into the floorboards and it's totalled. Any fresh water that reaches the bottom of the dash or higher, over the engine, etc. and it's totalled. I don't know Progressive's policy, but that is a general rule of thumb with most co's. PM me if you need any help or have any questions, we'll get you thru this buddy.

Matt

Thanks for all the comments guys, even the jokes. I am pretty upset with myself, but am finding a little humor in this whole ordeal now... . It's either laugh or cry, and I am not too big on cryin'.

John
