Oh ya, it comes with a new headliner and they had no trouble moving my cab light back so I wouldnt loose it. I had them mount the little four button controller on the overhead console between the map lights, looks pretty sleek.

There ya go David! The install looks sweet and you've just spent more of my money for me because I now need one:D Lets hear some details on price, models, install, etc!

Here is the fix

Yes, I mean the eardrum noise when the roof is open at 30-33 MPH.

It has a plastic retractable wind guard that pops up when the window is open... I think it is there to keep debris from shooting in...

Kinda funny when I hold the guard down the wind noise is significantly less... but it isn't that bad when open, I am mainly talking on the freeway

Here is what I was referring to to fix that buffeting problem.

Some vehicles don't need them but you notice alot of Honda and Toyota's with them as they have similar roof curves.

Often the one that pops up that is being refered to in your post is adequate.

Hollandia???

David,

That is a Hollandia brand Moonroof right? If so it is a great product and I have installed many of those in past years.

Looks Great!

LOOK AT THE HOOD

Not to be rude or anything. But forget about the moonroof, eventhough I think they are way cool. Check out that Hood, thats exactly what I wanted. But, being a college student I opted for a cheaper one, I am very happy with it, but man... ... . that one sure looks good.

NICE RIG MAN!!!!

Looks awesome DPope

The roof looks great and it looks like you did a kick a$$ job on the installation.

One thing I did notice is that the roof on your truck has no ribs in it for strengthening. For the people who own an 03 or 04 quad cab (mine is in transit from MEX to the dealer so I can't look at it), if I remember correctly the surface of the roof is corrugated for strength.

Does this mean that I'm banned from installing a moon roof or is it possible after all? :{ :{

I drove a new 04 Furd F150 Lariat that had one. AWESOME option. It made me feel like I was in a sports car.

Surely there has to be a way. A pop up would be OK but a power moonroof is the way to go.

Anyone know what the options are out there for this type of install??

I'm wrong  (time to eat a big piece of humble pie)

I looked at some new QC trucks today and the roof is smooth. I would have sworn that they had put some ribbing in the roof, but that's cool I can have a sunroof after all.

I did some poking around and found that Hollandia does sell power moonroofs for 03 and 04 Ram QCs. :D

How much should one of these cost (roof only not installed) and where can I buy one from other than a body shop or vehicle customizing shop?

I'm going to do some more searching and see if I can find a place to buy one. If any of you have ideas on this please let me know.

This was one of the options I wanted but DC didn't offer it.

DPope see what you started  Now this is something else I'm going to "need" :D :D Thanks dude Jay

Hollandia Self Install?

The Hollandia moonroof is a bonded unit so it is very unlikely you could install it yourself OR let me rephrase... The installation tools for installing a Hollandia unit would make it pretty cost prohibitive to justify trying to do it yourself.

When I say Bonded... Most moonroofs have an outer trimring that goes into the opening from the top and the inside housing attaches to that trimring. The Hollandia has a flange that glues to the roofskin with some WHICKED stuff and only needs a small rubber trim to trim out the exterior. (part of the reason it looks so stealth).

The labor is a trained labor in that you tweak or bend the bonding plaps (gluing surface) so that when you jack the housing up into place to be glued it causes the roof to be the proper shape and yes there are some tolerences but for the most part it IS an exact science.

You might find a "Top Shop" that will install the housing and let you do the rest... draintube installation, wiring, sunpanel upholstry, and headliner etc.

Moonroof Self-Install??

I think that this is something that you should think twice or fifty times over first before you attempt to try to do yourself. I dealt with auto customizers for years,; and I can tell you that many of the customizing that they did looked very simple to the untrained eye. but were infact, way beyond the abilities of most shadetree mechanics and regular "line" mechanics. To accomplish most of these upgrades required many specialized skills. My '02 worth.

Caution do not apply glue to fingers!!!

Thanks for the info guys. I can see the headlines in the local newspaper now... "Man accidentally glues himself to his truck during sunroof installation" I'm going to start looking for some local dealers.

Lightman I gave the price at the beginning of the first page. It was around $1295 installed.
