I've decided I'm at about the right power level for my needs, but could use a bit more air. '98 12v, 5speed, 10 plate, 4kgsk, 16 deg timing, 4" exhaust.

The truck averages 22. 5 mpg on my 700 mile a week commute & I don't want to mess that up :). I do tow a 7000# TT occaisionally on mostly flat land. The Dodgezilla with a 14 housing, or the BD1 are pretty close to the same price, which one & why? Prefered vendor?

Any direct comparisons or opinions on a turbo for the 330-380hp range???? I do not need room to grow, just cleaning up/cooling what I have.

I paid 800 for a brand new Super B from BD power, and it has worked well for me so far. I would like to get a bigger turbo, but with the application that I have, I dont know if I have the room for it. That being said, the spool time is very, VERY, quick for a single IMO, it pushes right up to 45 psi with no problems at all, and seems to keep the EGTs in check relatively well. For 800 bucks I think it is a fabulous little unit, and is truly a great towing turbo, as BD states in their literature. You can see the mods I have in my signature to get an idea of what kind of fuel I am pushing, I am definitely gonna slide the plate forward once I can get my clutch to stop slipping, so we will see how the turbo deals with the added fuel.

Since it appears yours running the original injectors I would look into just going with a HX-35/40 hybrid or something similar. Or you could just go with something like the Super B or Dodgezilla, then you'll still have room to grow if you desire but according to your post MPG is what your after, so aftermarket injectors are probably not your go... ...

I have a Super B and am very happy with it. I haul my 5th wheel alot and it seems to handle it quite well. It doesn't matter if I turn the fuel up or down, this turbo spools pretty fast.

Thanks,

Yes I plan to stay with the stock 215 injectors or under 400hp anyway :). The truck does everything I want it to at the current level. I'd just like a little more air so I don't have to watch/control the smoke or EGT's with my foot.

Another choice

Suggest you check out www.htturbo.com for their HTBG with a 4" downpipe and 14cm TH. Very happy with the lower EGTs and power (pull a 12. 5K 5er).

This turbo can be upgraded for more HP if you need it in the future.

I installed the DZ Friday & have put a little over 600 miles on it so far. I still can not get over the difference after breaking it in. Ay first I was a bit disappointed, but after a few hundred miles it really started to loosen up. It feels better everytime I drive it.

Without gauges & wouldn't notice any difference from stock driving easy, it spools right now. But above 2k it pulls much harder & it clears up the smoke very quickly.

I have not had a chance to pull the TT, but it handles the lowboy with a car very well & my first fuel mileage check was the best i've ever had pulling the lowboy normally 18-19 & this trip was 20. 2. I'm very pleased & the whistle is not too bad even with the BHAF.
