Has anyone tried the new Super B Special from BD yet? Or is it still not out??

I've been wondering the same thing...

BD tells me that it will support the same HP as the Super Phat Shaft 66, but spools quicker and moves more air at cooler temps due to a smaller shaft diameter.

Who knows?

Someone chime in!!!

BD told me they would be shipping them 6 weeks ago. I'm sure what ever is holding them up it is out of their control. They probably would like to get the turbos on the street ASAP. They told me that the special would hold 600 hp and that in the future could be run in a twin set up.

600 hp eh?

thats funny, i just read in TDR issue 52, page 122 - big BD ad. that it's good to "pushing 525" hp.

thats about the same story i got when i bought the original super B. they said, "oh yeah, its good to 500 hp. " now i read that it's good up to 425.

seems to be some double speak going on.

don't get me wrong, i love my super B and I have no desire to replace it, except maybe with the special. it is enough turbo for my driving style with the TST box.

they really are an excellent combo.

now if BD could just agree with their reps on "advertised" or "rated" horsepower limits.

i think it will put down 650 HP on the common rail. Its supposed to move 1200 cfm air. John Todd has been working will close with airwerks/borgwarner/switzter and this is really going to spool nice and move the air.

Ive always though BD has been too optimistic on their HP ratings. I think they have never been too big on BIG HP products. If you want BIG numbers I wouldnt buy BD's stuff even though they claim 600HP+ on a single when their twins were advertised as 450HP when they first came out.
