Do you mean the Super B Special or the regular Super B? I thought the regular Super B had a 57mm compressor wheel?

A little surging.....

As the title says, i have experinced a little surging from the special, maybe it is normal of a "larger" turbo then... . maybe it's not. When I am accelerating mid throttle and build about 25psi before 30mph then I lock the conv. I recieve quiet a bit of surge. When I have about 32psi and around 40mph(2000rpm) in "D" (3RD) it will not surge. I have learned to "drive around this". I never had any issues from the super B surging, is this a normal thing with larger turbos? I dont really mind the surge that much, cause I can drive around it, and boy does it get MEAN when the boost hits... ... ..... like breaking traction @ 70mph in 3rd(lock-up). :D

I was running 8. 30's in the 8th @88mph mile pre-turbo, I think maybe 7. 90's could be possible now w/the right air temps. :D :D

I don't get it... . what's up w/ wastegates???? What good are they!!??

They allow for a smaller turbine housing to improve spool up, while limiting shaft speed to prevent breakage. A dual wastegate is better, unless there is no rib in the mounting flange, so that all cylinders can be 'gated.

My PDR 40 is only has a single 'gate, and can blow past the 'gate setting. Set at 38#, IIRC, but can hit 45# without any trouble, at least before I bumped up my timing.

just a thought but you might want to consider a air filter that flows more air, i highly doubt that the BHAF is giving that turbo all the air it needs to do it's job. just a thought, but you might see a better gain with a gauze type filter. back when i had a 64/12 from htt on my truck, i had alot of surging issues. i also had a K&N FIPK air filter on my truck, didnt like they way it was filtering, got rid of the K&N, and went with a AFE stage 2 with PG7 filter, noticed right away that alot of my surging issues went away. i was pleased. i upgraded to the 66/14 last year and its been a great turbo. highway crusing temps were a bit higher than i was exprecting to see, but it cools really good on the top. i still can see over 1400 on the pyro, but it takes alot longer to get there.
