Ford 3/4 tons around 1995 era (i believe 93 ish to 97 ish ) had a multi hole alloy rim that looks simmiliar to a M/T classic style wheel. Anyway I saw a dodge with these rims with the stock dodge center caps installed. I inquired and was told they were Ford rims and that they are made by ALCOA for ford. The guy told me easy to find at wheel shops ect that have them as take offs ect. I found a set after a brief search for $200. 00 slight mods to the stock dodge caps and they fit. Anyone else know this or try this???????????????

ford alloys?

If you get ahold of a set, let us know the backspacing and center hole size?

I would like to find a set for my 93!

thanks in advance,

ray

My previous truck (95 Ford) had them. They are very nice wheels. Yes, they were made by alcoa and you can order them from alcoa, but I believe there was a different coating on the Ford rims so I would avoid mixing and matching. $200 is a pretty good deal, I have seen guys pay alot more. As far as the fitment on a 93 Dodge, I don't know about the aluminum rims clearing the brakes but I have seen some with them so it must be pretty simple. I have put the stock Ford steel wheels on my dads 93 Dodge and they seemed identical to the Dodge version except the Dodge wheel had smaller holes in the middle (you have to grind them open a little to make them fit the rear of a Ford). Right now dad is running some chrome rims that I ordered for a Ford about 6 years ago, no problems, 60,000 on this set so far.

ford alcoas

At the time of my post yesterday I did not have the rims in my hands. well I picked them up last night, they are nice. They seen heavy duty. Compared to the rims my buddy just bought that are similiar,, these are MUCH better and he is Piiiised,, he has had to polish his already. I willl post all the measurments in a day or so.

They have 295 75-16 BF's on them and look nice. I want to mount 305's on them. The truck i saw that turned me on to this idea had 305's and they looked great. I think they looked good with the dodge caps, just something different... .

I have been keeping an eye open for a set of these for my gooseneck trailer. I have seen tires and rims for a 100 a piece with like new tread. Of course I didn't have the spare $$ at the time. I am still looking though.

rim sizes

I looked at the rims today,,, they are marked 16x7 bummer, I thought they were 8 wide. But I think they will work for at least a 295 size tire. The truck that I saw with this set up had 305's and he said they worked fine. the back space measures about 4 1/2 they fit on my 02 rear end with disc brakes and plenty of center hole room.

7" rims and 295's are not recommended by all the tire manufacturers I could find, they say 8". The tire will be pulled in on the sidewalls causing center tread wear. To combat this people run lower air pressure and run the risk of sidewall failure from increased heat build up and tread seperation from that same heat buildup, can you say SUV/Firestone. At 65-75 towing 13,000 lbs. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I had those on my old f-250 gasser. They are a nice looking rim. I never even thought about Ford and Dodge having the same bolt pattern. Keep us posted on what you find out on the center caps, please!

Lloyd

same bolt pattern?

I was under the impression that in the mid '90's Ford went to a metric bolt pattern... something like 8 on 155mm.

While chebby and Dodge still kept the 8 on 6. 5"

Have you put them on the truck yet?

Keep us informed...

... Robert...

Is this what you are talking about?

I have been running this setup for a few years. If you have any questions, I probably have the answer with regards to center cap choice etc.

rims bolt pattern ect

I do not believe that ford went to metric untill late late 90's the rims i have off the 96 era ford fits on the dodge. I put a wheel on my truck the center cap off my 02 fits but with no mods at all there is a small gap around the edge (about 1/8 + ) I t looks like a little bending on the tabs will put them closer.

It looks like MDKRAM has used 2WD caps, hopfully he can expand on what he did for caps and what size tire he is using... .

alcoa wheels

Hi , does anyone know if the ford f350 alcoa's will fit the ram 3500's I'm looking to getting alcoa's for my 97 2wd. thanks in advance IanOo.

Which year of F350? The "newer" super duty body style uses a different bolt pattern than the Dodge and Chevy. I don't think the older F350 came with Alcoa wheels - I may be wrong though!

A word of caution:

When I bought my 3500 it came with Alcoa's made for a Ford. The lug pattern was fine but the Ford center bore was too big for the Dodge hub, leaving nothing to center the wheel on the hub. I sold the Ford wheels and bought the correct Alcoa's form southwest Wheel.

Eric

Excellent point. The 3500's are hub piloted,so if the centre hole is too big, they wont run true. The 2500,are lug centered so it not a factor.
