Gang;

I'm looking for a good front bumper replacement. A semi-local shop sells these Super Craft Inc. Bumpers from Monroe La. The website is at supercraftinc.com/default.asp , the prices are on the www.truckfarm.com website. Dodges use the 10" styles. Has anyone had any experiences with these bumpers? I like them because they are relativily in-expensive and fairly light (A Stage 6 10" only weighs 175 lbs. ). Any info would be appreciated.

I am interested too. I like that the weight is light, but where did you find that? With it being steel I doubt that number.

I have not heard of the Super Craft bumper, but if your not set on buying that one and you want some other choices. Look at Denver Off Road, or ToughCountry front bumper replacements. I just ordered a ToughCountry replacement for mine and the weight is around 200lbs or so. There is also another thread that is running called "Calling Denver Off-Road Bumper owners" which has a lot of great information on replacement bumpers.

I also would take a look at the DOR aluminum bumper. It costs more, but is lighter, and brushed aluminum looks good.

I have a Prozap bumper, very similar to the DOR but a bit cheaper, steel, and around 225 pounds. They make a very nice looking stainless as well, but pricey.

Hopefully you are only going to do this once, look around and get the one you really like best.

Pics can be seen on my homepage.

Super Craft

BigUgly - - I've had this 10" bumper on my '99 for 104k miles and the same bumper on my '97 for 60k miles with no problem. I don't have the grill guard, but use a Warn 12,000 winch. Since I use it heavily for work, a $1300+ bumper wasn't in the cards. I painted mine silver and put a piece of black trim on the top edge, then installed two tow rings on the front. With street flares on the front fenders it looks good. I first saw the bumper at a customers shop in Mississippi. They have a large fleet of Ram 1500 4X4's and all have this bumper. I think the weight posted must be with a winch, because I can pick up the bumper with no problem. It took two of us to install the assembly with the winch in place. I found out later there is enough room to put the winch on after the bumper is in place. Best part of all, the price is right! Less than 1/2 what most of the others are. It is now $100 more than what I paid, but that was almost 4 years ago.

Thanks for the replys;

As for the weight, that is what I was told in an e-mail from the Company, that was however, with the brush-guard installed, so Denny, your's should be lighter. I'm trying to keep the weight down for the front of the truck and up for the wallet, if you know what I mean. I do like the look of the Prozap, but it's kinda expensive, as is the DOR Bumper. I really do like the looks of the Super Craft Style 6 with the serious Mad Max style brush guard.

Denny, any way you can post pics? And does it just bolt up?

Thanks, Josiah

BigUgly - - I am not a computer guru, but took a pix of bumper this am and will try to post. If I don't make it I can e-mail to you.

Did't make it, said file to big. I'll figure something out and get back.

I have the #5 on my truck. All that was offered a few years ago where I bought it. The #6 really looks awesome. Mine mounted right up except for having to remove a peice about 1. 5"x8" to fit around an AC return line. Been hit twice in the drivers corner by those pesky little 4 wheelers running red lights and it has held up very well.

pwknapp,

Don't suppose you could post a picture either. This one looks a bit more in my budget. Plus the weight is not bad.

What is the standard finish? I see they offer polyurethane. I just need primer so I can match my white paint up.

The model #6, anyone know if that one affects the lighting in any way?

Wife hates these big bumpers but I have had to many close calls with Bambi again lately.

C. D. Day, thanks for posting the pic. My truck is white also. My thoughts are that I would like a white bumper to go with. The only thing I am not crazy about with all the aftermarket bumpers is that they "stick out". What with an extended cab and 8. 5' bed, I just squeeze into some parking spaces so as it is.

So far though, this is looking like a good choice for steel.

Denny, thanks for the better view. Looks good but for me, I would rather have about half that depth. Don't need the winch. I gotta get a look at one with the brush guard though.

Another thing I have going is a good welder close by. I need to show him some of these pics and see what he thinks he can do and for how much money.

Super Craft w/o winch

QRTRHRS - - Shouldn't take much to trim, but the way their grill guard is made, I don't think you would gain much. Also there are some angle braces from the sides that go to the main supports that will have to be delt with. Since I've mastered the photo deal I'll try to post a pix of the underside to give you an idea. I't gonna' have to warm up a little before I crawl under my truck!

Super Craft bracing Pix

QRTRHRS - It looks like you could only gain one inch without doing some major cutting on the braces that support the ends of the bumper. The braces could be reversed, but you'd have to be careful to retain somewhat of a triangle, to prevent movement. Ain't much a good welder can't do.

Sorry no way to give a picture but mine was just finished in black paint with not much of a primer. Really needs to be blasted and painted after 250k of love bugs and such. The brush guard does not interfere with headlights and once again I really like the mesh one the #6. Probably going to add mesh when its off this winter to be painted.
