I know on some concrete trucks, heavy haul trucks, and high horsepower 18 wheel tractors they put heavier springs on the passenger side for torque so you dont get a lean to the right. On a concrete truck you would have a pack of 10 on the driver side and a pack of 11 on the passenger side... these were replacement springs so they had more that factory.

How can you tell which springs you currently have? Are they stamped, if so where? Or do they have some type of tag that I am not seeing?

It would really help to know what I currently have before I order. I was going to go to Phol Spring here in Spokane, they did my Land Cruiser, but if I can order from Mopar and do it myself, thats even better.

If they havent came off there should be paper tags on the coils some where or you can have the dealer look your truck up by the VIN. They should be able to tell you.

Thank You, I have not been able to see any tags anywhere on the springs. I guess I could mic them, maybe could tell that way?

I doubt the dealer will have any info on what the diameter is for each spring, since they dont even know the spring rates of the springs. Probably best just to look it up by vin. I would bet you prob have 985s or 984s if you dont have a plow package but who knows.

springs are in!

Well the new springs are in and here's the news!

The new springs are a bit shorter the the oems, however as stated the coils them selfs are almost twice as thick. The truck is NOW 1 1/2 taller in the front! The ride is much stiffer, but not bad enough that you wouldn't want to do this.

Before there was a speed bump that would make me hit the stops, Now the same bump is no problem. Note: tested at slow and fast speeds! :p

Yes I would recommend this for all trucks, and a must for Mega Cabs!

Hope this helps!!

I agree I put mine on with 2in coil spacers and the truck sets like it should no more bottoming little stiffer but i also have MX6 shocks set pretty stiff... . Any one with a winch or heavy bumer should try these!

just curious, how hard was it to swap the springs out? will stock shocks still work or did you have to change them as well?

Stock shocks will still work even with a 2in coil spacers and 988s, I had to run the stock shocks for 2 weeks while i got my MX6's shipped in.

Yooper1, how much shorter were the new springs? Did you measure them? Really need to know before I order, I would actually like my front end to be at least an inch higher, to match my rear with 10lbs in my bags.

will these 988's fit on 94-02 second generation trucks? Don't know much about 3rd generation trucks. But could sure use a stiffer spring with my plow. Thanks

Tom

I am not sure how much shorter they were, (the dealer call and told me)

HOWEVER!!!! My truck did lift an 1 1/2" higher!! For real. . As far as the 2nd gen trucks, I did put spring like this in my 01. . Not sure what the number was. . Driving the truck is much better. . Hope this helps, it you want I'll call the dealer on Monday and ask about the springs. . But it will lift the truck.

Mike

Just rotated the tires on my truck. Tag was still on the springs, 52121621AA, both sides the same. 621 is a long way from 988. Wonder if the stiffness is sequential numbering on these springs?

Patrick you have stock mega cab springs. I replaced my mega cab springs with part # 52121623AA They are allot stiffer and ride firmer.

are you guys doing any thing to the rear of the truck as well? Adding 1 -1. 5 inches in the front and nothing to the rear?
