Dyno comparisons of equipment across different trucks are not very accurate. Other differences in equipment, or simply truck-to-truck HP differences, can render the comparison completely inaccurate. Hence, I would much prefer to see different brands of injectors compared on the same truck. Also, it is easily possible to hone injectors until the seats are almost washed out. They will make a little more hp, smoke a lot more, and last a few months or so. Diesel Dynamics is a bit conservative because they want to warranty their injectors for 200,000 miles, and they don't like to trade off tons of smoke for just a few hp. All that smoke geneally equates to poor mpg, excessive oil contamination, and short engine life. DD also doesn't sell the Super Mentals mail order because they want to be sure the truck is well set up so the injectors will make the difference they should, egt's will be resonable so engine life is good, and they want to be sure the owner is ready for the driveability changes such injectors can bring. All that being said, I expect I can get a set for anyone who cares to go over the issues noted above with me, and shows understanding and acceptance of the trade-offs.
