The Superlift kit is the same as the Skyjacker. Upper and lower replacement arms, new coil springs, track bar drop bracket, pitman arm, upper link relocating brackets, etc. I did a lot of researching before I lifted my truck last month. The only difference between skyjacker and superlift is that superlift is a few hundred more expensive.

Hey Dodge-Tech, a couple questions:

1) How is the ride compared to stock?

2) Does the truck sit more level than stock "jacked-up"?

3) Did it include new rear springs or blocks?

4) Did you have to mod the driveshafts or brakelines?

5) How long was the install?

6) What gears are you running?

The lift was a piece of cake! Everything is bolt-on, no permanent modifications are needed. In my opinion, the ride is MUCH better now. The truck now sits almost level-the back is about 1" higher than the front. The rear lift method is an add-a-leaf, no blocks. The driveshafts are stock, no mods needed. The install time was about 7-8 hours, working by myself and with a lift(working at a dealer does have it's advantages!) I'm running 4. 10 gears, and have lost hardly any performance with the 36" tires. The front driveshaft c/v joint on a manual trans truck (mine's an auto) must be ground slightly to prevent binding at full suspension droop. This is because the manual trans is shorter, hence the steeper angle. IMO money well spent!

I agree with Dodge-Tech,

Money well spent, Looks like me and Dodge-Tech have pretty much the same kit. I opted for the replacement springs however in the rear. The truck sits perfectly level and the picture above is decieving because its not on level ground. I also have the stage II which gives me double shock mounts up front and once again I agree the ride is better than stock. One more thing we agree on is that 4:10 gears work out fine with the 36" tires. I did have one small problem with the kit, the Trac Bar drop bracket kept vibrating loose even after I ground the weld down as stated in the directions for the diesel. I almost welded it in but when I went to tighten it up I noticed major play in the trac bar. thats when I recalled seeing a post here about the DT trac bar and purchased one. The DT trac bar drop bracket fit and bolted up better than the Skyjacker it also drop the trac bar a little more closer to horizontal. I guess what I am saying is if you have the extra $$$ I would recomend installing the DT bar at the same time. When you get the bigger meats under your rig the play in the stock bar is that more noticable. Other than that I love my Skyjacker

HEMI, thanks for the picture post.

Outlaw- they're Stillen Flares, saw the ad in Truckin' magazine. The rims are Eagle 589's, 16. 5x9. 75. The flares are flexible urethane, they came black and had to be painted.

I saw an add for a 5" lift made by Superlift for our Cummins equiped trucks. I know Skyjacker has had a lift out for several years. Anyone here using the Superlift?

SWEET!
Nice trucks gentlemen! But do you ever get them dirty? #ad

Thanks for the info. One more question: What kind of mileage change did you notice with the big meats? How bad would do you think it be with 3:54 gears?

when I had the 3. 54 ratio in I was gettin about 10. 5 in town with 35" and went up to 12 or so on a 500 mile round trip(maybe a little more not much) now around town I'm gettin 12. 1-12. 2 since I changed to the 4:10 ratio--much better set up I think--great lookin' trucks---Dodge-Tech where'd you get those headlight lenses--chris

not to pry in on this and change subject but the skyjacker 7218 end to end steeting dampner actually works, we arent lifted other than front blocks, we needed it for towing you know the tracking suxs, well the skyjerker actually helped, the install was not very sanitary but it works and helps with the tracking of the truck, hope mark kitchell hears this too

Brandon,

Did I read correctly that you have FRONT blocks? Aside from being illegal, they are unsafe.

Dodge-Tech,
Doesn't the 4. 5" lift put the front drive shaft at an excessive angle? How would this lift affect driveline performance/life?

I considered a lift soon after I bought my 98. 5... but have resolved to let well enough alone. If for no other reason than to attach a 5th wheel.

Deezal Man-I'd say no to the front driveshsft excessive angle--if it did there would be a disclaimer-- as for the drivetrain--my truck sure rides better than stock, but only time will tell--I would think not, but you never know, but I still think I won't have any drivetrain problems unless stupidity enters the foray--chris

blocks spacers cups, whatever, does it sound better if I say Its the rancho kit, ps I coulda fabbed the same thing I bought, if I did that would it have been unsafe too??????
I was just talking about the 7218 dampner since most of the same people posted on this thread that posted on the dampner thread,

News flash rancho kit and all kits with spacers are unsafe, even thought they are bolted in. and completely dissimilar from front blocks on a leaf spring suspension

What do you reccomend to level the truck? Let us know and I will advise all companies who make the front spacer kits for the dodges

Whoa..... #ad

Take it easy... . didn't realize you were that sensitive. #ad

With your permission, I'd like the opportunity to clarify my original thought. .

not to pry in on this and change subject but the skyjacker 7218 end to end steeting dampner actually works, we arent lifted other than front blocks,

Don't ask why, but my mind instantly thought about front blocks under leaf springs.

Again, I apologies.
-----------------------------------------
Now if I may ask something of you... I would ask that you be a little more forgiving.

I made an obvious A$$ out of myself. . but I didn't need a response I would expect from my 17 year old daughter.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert on these trucks... . or vehicles in general. I simply thought of something and started typing before thinking about what I was saying.

Maybe I should apologies right away to everyone for "next" time... Cause I know I ain't perfect... . and it'll happen again.

its cool sorry for jumping the gun, I knew what you meant about front blocks on leaf springs, I too have seen the 6 inch blocks on the front of chevies, they used to put on the front cover of 4 wheeler.
sorry to jump the gun, no hard feelings

The only time the driveshaft needs clearancing is when a manual transmission is in the truck. The reason for this is because the manual is shorter in length, hence the steeper angle. I have an auto, this wasn't a concern for me.

BigBadDodge, where did you get the DT trac bar? Great lookin' rig by the way. I've been considering the Skyjacker 4. 5 inch lift and the Dick Cepek 6 inch lift. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
