While changing my oil for the first time I noticed an open female

side 6 pin connector just hanging there below the oil filter by the ac compessor. My wife told me she noticed a very loud banging

noise from the engine compartment the other day. anyway,

I pop the hood to add the oil, and what do I see between the

head and the radiator hose? The male side connector with

mangled wires hanging off of it. I am assuming this goes to the

compressor, My ac still works, but only while going down the road.

I have absolutely no cooling while at a standstill. either the fan

or serpentine belt got ahold of this connector. This happen to

anyone else? she goes to the dealer tomorrow.

Make sure they don't cob it together. Crimped or soldered connections wont last nearly as long as a weatherpack connector. They really should replace the entire harness.

Arent you glad you change your own oil?

Well the dealer called back and said they ordered a new harness

so it will be a couple of days. I am a ford tech (job security) you

know they will always be breaking down :) I know that ford

requires the entire old harness be turned in for warranty work.

so they wont splice on new connectors. hopefully dodge is the

same way. It was actually the connector for the fan that got

chopped up.

friends '03 had same problem

Friend(former life long ford man now owner of 03 dodge HPCR HO) had the same thing happen to him at the extravaganza. We were leaving the drags and notice the A/C was only cold for a second when first turned on. Got to looking and looked like the wires tot he engine fan got wacked. Went to Vigo county dodge (right across the street) explained our problem and he said" what electric solenoid on what fan? Show me" Seems he didn't even know the 03's had the electric solenoid, well he had not one handy and no mechanics to take one off of the lot. Looks like this might be a problem on the 03's
