Just a thought Kat, I wonder if the ECM has some sort of de-fueling limp mode when it sees a low boost condition that needs to be cleared.

Doesnt Bluechip have a pump tester for about 35 bucks? Maybe this would help.

Sorry to hear of your prob.

Maybe its something simple like the IAT sensor?? crossing fingers.

But the metal particles on the magnet doesnt sound good... hmmmm

They told me their tester wouldn't help me. I am going to drive the truck like it is for a few days, burn up the fuel thats in it and fill fully with some additive (although I thought I had a half bottle of Standadyne in there) to rule out bad fuel/gelled fuel. (very unlikely tho).

Going to remove my COMP, and unhook the batteries over night. Just to see if anything happens or changes. Pondering removing my High Idle device as well. And going to look at the MAP sensor most likely as well, may even replace it.

Okay, I'm not trying to start anything here. But, there was some mis-leading information given earlier about Blue Chips cover.

If you've already pierced your wire, it's going to remain pierced!! Yes, Blue Chips cover comes with two wires attached. But, they hook up to the wires going to the comp box. The two wires that you pierced remain where they are, and pierced... ... ..... if they are.

IMHO, I wouldn't bother installing the new cover unless you haven't pierced your wires. If you have... ... ... . I would save the money.

kat,

Give me a call at the shop, there a few things you can check to verify the vp 44 issue, Stefan is going through the same thing at the moment , too long to type but it sounds like the same thing.

Stefan feels that DTT should warranty his VP 44 pump as the truck was abused by the previous owners and he has only had the truck for 2 months.

I cannot remember ever abusing the truck , funny thing is we have an employee by the name of Stefan Kondolay that as i recall drag raced , and rat raced that truck, and if i recall correctly went through 4 sets of tires in 1 1/2 years.

If thats the case... ... . then I think DTT should cover mine too, if the transmission wouldn't hold the abuse I throw at it I would have no desire to go faster ;)

I'll call ya in just a sec.

I been reading old posts and I think the first thing I am going to look at is the MAP sensor.

My Plan of attack for now :

Going to leave the truck in the "shop" over the weekend (it won't fit in my garage) when they close today they will pull it inside and disconnect the batteries, and leave it over the weekend. Monday morning will change the MAP sensor and the IAT sensor, remove the COMP and then reconnect the batteries and give it a drive. I figure leaving it in the shop will rule out any fuel gelling "questions" and leaving the batteries disconnected will help me start "fresh". The truck is at a "diesel shop"... . I don't trust Cummins Great Plains, nor any of the dealers around here. Woodhouse would be my only "option" I would consider, but after they told Doug Hatfield he needed a new injection pump when he only had air in the lines kinda puts a damper on letting them under my hood.

Of course this plan could change once Bill calls me (he wasn't there yet).

If I do need a new VP44 I'm getting it from Piers, but hes out of stock until Monday or Tuesday, so I got some time to play... and read before ordering one. I have no problem with replacing the pump, just want to be sure that it is the problem before I buy myself a very exspensive paperweight.

Thanks to everyone that has helped so far on ideas.

:eek::eek: Are you serious Bill????

Better yet, do you have any proof?

Doh! That's right, Stefan was caught on "tape" and the proof is on your website home page.

Busted! :D

Kat, Mr C may have a good point. Have you had anyone hook a scanner up to the truck? I agree that it might be possible to have a stored code that castrates the power until it sees a scanner that clears the code. You are staring $2 grand right in the face, I would try everything before shelling it out if it were me. JMHO.
