"... My father has a 1990 D350 that he is converting to r134. He lives in a small town in Arkansas that doesnt have too many parts places. He was able to get everything but now has hit a snag. When retrofitting the valves so that he can use the manifold guage set to check and charge the system, he is having a problem with the adapters that change the r12 connection to the r134 quick disconnect fittings.

Evidently the schrader valves wont open and were somehow damaged. His guages work fine on my sisters 99 24v so he is sure that it's not the guages.

Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase the fittings? Who can recommend a retrofit kit? Thanks for your help..... "

i found out the hard way that some of the conversion fittings require removing the stock schrader valves and some don't. if they require the removal of the stock schrader and you dont, the needle in the guages can't push both of the valves down. usually the cheap aluminum fittings work with the factory schraders installed and the better brass fittings require removal.

Thanks for the response and thanks for the move. I will let my father know about the valves. I was hoping that someone may have a recommendation for a good place to get the parts online that have used them with success.
