Not sure what happened. Anyone have any thoughts?
I thought my lift pump might be going on me the other day. The truck started surging (truck was shaking) so I hit the brakes and pulled down a side street. When I hit the brakes, the truck stalled. I put it in park then restarted with no problems. I drove home (about 9 miles with no more problems). It was about 20F outside and I was just about on empty. Possible water in the fuel or fuel gel? The only code I got was "P0700 Transmission Control System (MIL Request)" and the check engine light came on. It went out the next day.
A couple days later, I was on a long trip, temps were in the teens and I had over half a tank. The engine started surging. It seemed as if the engine would die, but since I didn't move the pedal, it would try to catch up by dumping more fuel - hence the surge. I was about 10 miles from a gas station so continued to drive until I got there. I turned the Quad off to see if that would do anything, but no change. It felt as if I was just pumping the accelerator. Once I got close to the gas station, I hit the brakes to slow down and the motor stalled. I coasted into the gas station. I put it in park and started it again with no problems. I checked the codes again and had the P0700 code again. I have since driven about 500 miles with no problems. I don't do a lot of driving (33k on the truck), so this was a lot of mileage for me.
Any ideas what might be causing it? I was thinking something with the throttle position sensor, but not sure how that throws a transmission control system code?!?
Thanks for the help.
