my 99 2500 has started to stall when shifting from park to reverse or from neutral to drive. ( cant make it from park to drive. when engine is cold it works fine. I have to raise the RPM's to get it to go. once in gear it works fine. tonite after I got it in gear it wouldn't accelerate going up a hill but after going over the hill it worked fine.

surge

BG thanks for the info but I looked at 18 pages and could'nt find anything revalent, maybe I just missed it.

The cam sensor on a 99 is for diagnostics only and will not affect engine operation. The crank sensor if acting up usually will turn on the check engine light and the tach should be doing some strange things. How is fuel pressure?. I guess I would start by cleaning Batteries and every ground wire you can find. There is a chance that the lockup for the TC could be hanging up. There have also been instances of VP problems causing this issue. Get the codes scanned as it may shoe something. Do not try the key method as it does not work on a 99.

in the shop

I dropped of the truck at Advanced Diesel in Anchorage. he suspected it was the injector but also would check out the lift pump. Id the lift goes or is intermittent the injector will fail. more to come.

My first guess is injectors failing, after I installed new injectors it stalled when shifting from neutral or pard to drive or reverse, and by the way a guy said the crank sensor wont effect truck preformance, thats bull **** because I just had the problem last week and the truck ran like **** until I reset the computer, and yes it does throw the check engine light on

it's fixed

I retrieved the truck from Advanced Diesel in Anchorage and drove 2 days. it runs like new. it was the injector pump. they put a new Bosch and a lift pump (my request) $1980, great people to work with.
