99 2wd. Truck has a banks kit on it and an automatic transmission. I will be driving down the road and the transmission will what seems like disengage and the motor will rev up about 2 to 300 rpms. then immediately come back to normal. The dealership says it is electrical. got five hundred bucks into it so far and nothing has changed. Can anyone steer me in the right direction.

Thank You in advance

any codes? i had similar problem ,a. p. p. s. ,disconnected battery grounds for 1 hour, cleaned all the ground connections , there are many. follow the two battery cables down to where they connect . remove them and clean apply some silacone grease before installing. hope this helps.

check your tps it may need to be cleaned. take it off and spray it with some electrical cleaning spray. then put it back on and go for a drive. i had that problem with my truck and that what i used to do before i got my dtt trans.

The 99 has the transmission controled by APPS/TPS. Try resetting it by disconnecting the batteries for a few then turning the key on (not start) and slowly depress the accellerator and release. Can also diagnois the T/C lock-unlock from electrical interference.

woops my bad. im still learning 24v things. i didnt mean to send you down the wrong path. i think i should study more before responding to things on the 24v. sorry if i miss lead you on anything. richard

Your problem seems to be in TC lockup area.

Don't have an anwser for you, but do a search

on TC lockup. You find a bunch of info.

Sounds like the electrical noise problem. Clean battery terminals and the ground connectors near the passenger battery. Call DTT for a noise filter, About $40.

DTT Noise Filter

I had the same problem on my '99 after I (Camping World) installed a Git-Kit.

Under an earlier TDR thread "TC Hunting Lockup" there is a discussion on this. There it was suggested I look into a DTT noise filter before going to Dodge for their tech bulletin 18-02-99 fix. I ordered one on 11-2, got it on 11-7 and installed it the same day - yesterday. No more hunt. Just the answer to the problem.

It took me an hour and a half, including replacing a broken soldering tip, sipping coffee and taking pictures of the process. Well worth the 37+12SH. It even comes with a nice little bag of electrical fittings you can put in your tool box -- SOLDER! spray clean electronic terminals and clean all four battery terminals (remove, clean and retighten one post and cable at a time and you won't lose power)

It's a wonder Banks doesn't say anything about - or offer -- this filter, they certainly know the problem is noise.
