Price from my local dealer to install the in-tank pump was about $950. 00.:eek::eek:. I'd rather pay $650. 00 for a FASS and install it myself. That way I get better fuel pressure, air separator, 2 filters and a product that is going to last...

My concern with the GDP kit is that some have reported that it moves so much fuel it pulls a lot of air from the tank when the fuel level gets below 1/4 tank. I don't want to use a kit that does that. How much control over the rate of fuel flow does the GDP give? Can it be throttled back to 15 psi or so of pressure?

Viper,

We are camped on the Kesilof river about 10 miles north of clam gultch. Wish I'd have known, perhaps we could have helped.

nwcatman,

I talked to Rich at Glacier Diesel Power (GDP) and he said they quit carrying the smaller 391 pump because they weren't selling many of them as compared to the 392. GDP sets the output pressure (for standard to mild fueling requirements) at 18-20psi before they ship the kit out. Pressure can be regulated higher, if needed.

You might be able to find a vendor who still has the 391 kit on their shelf... maybe? Do a search on Google for those who sell the kits, you may just be able to locate one.

The 392 kit comes with 3/8" fuel line and fittings... plenty of fuel available along with reasonable fuel pressure. I'm looking forward to installing the kit. It's like my 2001 fuel supply issue relived.

Johnstra,

You may want to visit Glacier Diesel's website and read their tech info. It sounds like you're confusing Chrysler's in-tank pump for Glacier's.

Gentlemen, Ladies too,

I finished the install of Glacier's GFS-392 performance and big line kits. Unfortunately, in order to run 3/8" fuel hose w/new connector from fuel tank outlet to 392 pump, I had to drop the tank. Otherwise everything turned out well. I'm a little slower than most people (measure twice, cut once - too meticulous for my own good sometimes), thereby the whole job took around ten hours. The heat, although working in my garage, caused me to take numerous water breaks.

The directions supplied with the kits are very well written, therefore easy to follow. The kits are top-notch... quality all the way. I was impressed with the effort Glacier Diesel put into these kits.

After purging air, the truck started up and had a very smooth idle. Took it for a test drive, the truck ran great... no more stumble or stall. Now, I'm anxious to get a set of gauges installed. The first gauge to go in will be a mechanical fuel pressure gauge on a single gauge a-pillar pod (I already have sitting on the shelf).

Anyone having reservations about spending the money for the kit; don't! If I ever have another fuel pump go out, like stated earlier, $100 and a few minutes time and I'll be back on the road. Take care.

I didn't purchase any extended warranty. When it quit at 97,000, they replaced it free of charge, and did the in-tank conversion.

I'm at 67,000.

Guess I need to start looking, too...

Didn't look fast enough.

79,536 miles and poof! Stranded on the side of the road on I-25 near Raton, NM at 5:00a on a monday morning.

Ended up with a new tank mounted pump - covered under warranty minus $100. 84,000 and running fine again.

Should've acted sooner!

JHardwick,

With the in-tank pump, when accelerating aggressively (building boost), what do you have for fuel pressure? I noticed you're running a Quad Race and Flux 1's. Therefore, just curious.

It appears the in-tank pump (pusher) far exceeds the longevity of the one mounted on the fuel filter housing (lift). Maybe Dodge finally got it right?
