Recently, I installed a 4" exhaust, Wildcat max flow kit, and the DDTTPM . . . Not sure how the TAG will play with all the performance enhancements. . . . Hopefully the TAG will make my compressor more efficient, acting like a bigger compressor housing. . .

I"m satisfied with the money I spent on the TAG, for my application it works.

Dwayne with your situation and what you have, an item that should compliment your setup nicely is the Piers modified 3G turbo which is around $300. With that, my TAG and ATS manifold my truck is running really nice, but I'm not at high elevation. Breathing thru midrange is improved noticeably and response seems better off idle compared to when I was running the TAG with stock turbo.

I have the Amsoil drop-in air filter and 4" exhaust with Aeroturbine.

Got the TAG!

Just got the TAG today and put it in for a test run. Installation was a snap if anyone is concerned about that. A screw driver and about two minutes of your time and it's in.

I can't honestly say that I felt any improvement. Nothing registered in the SOP meter. I really "wanted" to feel something but it just wasn't there. We'll have to see what happens with a load on it and thats coming up shortly.

The one thing that I did notice was the tach at idle. My truck idles Ok but the needle moves a little. I think this is common in the CTD and its always been there. With the TAG installed the needle movement was much quicker. Same movement... just quicker. Don't know what that means but it was the only real difference that I saw.

After I tow my TT back to Idaho and check mileage and performance maybe something will show up as an improvement over stock... . we'll see.

Anyway, thats the report... nothing to report!

Hmmmm, I just scanned this whole thread and the only thing that looks reliable is the dyno report that the TAG reduced HP and torque.

But there seems to be a bunch of sheep here buying them anyway.

Damn I knew I should have become a dealer for that fuel turbulator that makes all that extra power by turbulating ,or was it ionizing, whatever, the fuel.

Let's see; make a product with no dyno relsults... A member tests it and it reduces his power and you all buy it anyway:rolleyes:

I have run a TAG for 16k miles - 11k of that is pulling. I don't feel the SOP everyone wants to see, but I do feel a change in the "growl" when I hit the torque range of the engine - pulling makes it very noticable. I still feel that if/or when I put an exhaust on, I will reap more benifits from the TAG. I averaged 8. 14MPG on the first 34 fill-ups which were without the TAG and sythetics- and 10. 78 on the last 64 fill-up with the TAG and Amsoil. I discussed the increase in MPG in a seperate thread some time back, and had many criticize my claim, saying that synthetics could not do that much, but I have the numbers. Unfortunately,I put the TAG in close to the same time. I still am not saying the TAG gave me a huge increase, but I beleive that there is something there based on my numbers and the feeling I described above - the most noticable change is the MPG increase pulling my 8600lbs flatbed home empty - the MPG is almost always better when I am empty. I quess I am just a sheep - anyone doing any cliff jumping.

Installed mine also----

I went over to Pasco and picked her up at the shop. Great place and even had "the Man" install it. I just recently installed a 4" SS Flowmaster from RIP, and an AFE Megacannon, so I'm not sure if I can really tell anything by the SOP. It runs better and seems to have more response, but since i put all these together in such a short time - who knows what did what. I am getting some slight better mileage. For example, I did an experiment where I completely filled her up - to the brim - ran a little over 100 miles, on the freeway (I-5 North of Vancouver to Kalama, Wa) - and here's the secret - DID NOT EXCEED 60 MPH!!!!!! I really tried to drive for mileage. I did use the cruise control - no dead throttle. This section of freeway is relatively flat, so no real grades to worry about. It was late at night - no traffic to speak of, no rain - dry - no wind. I went back to the same station and filled her back up to the brim - I achieved 22. 15! That's the best I've ever got - BUT, then again I haven't ever ran like that before. So I'm not sure what I would have achieved prior to my mods. I'm going to add some EDM's, maybe the 1. 0, or 1. 5's, as they are suppose to be better for fuel mileage. I'll duplicate the experiment to see if there's a difference.

I have a proto-type that car-nuts gave me to test. He has my results for the emmissions testing with and without the EZ-Comp engaged. Emmissions dropped on my rig. I get 22. 78 mpg solid on trips from Portland to Idaho. Thats 715 on a tank with 3 gallons left over usually. This is on a 2001 H. O. 6 Speed. I've been running this about a year now I think. I get 18. 5 towing 7,000 lbs at 65 mph. That from Utah to Oregon

Hi Mundgyver,

I asked car_nut57 for a clarification of his claim of lowered emissions resulting after installation of the TAG device. In response Car_nut57 said:

""Mundgyver" on the this site has done some tests for NOX, CO2 etc. I just don't remember where his thread is located".

and you then said:

"He [car_nut57] has my results for the emmissions testing with and without the EZ-Comp engaged. Emmissions dropped on my rig. "

Is this a game?

I don't want to put you on the spot as that would be a misplaced spot for you, but can you point me to the thread mentioned by carnut57 if there is one?

I know that you are not subject to diesel emission testing down there and would be interested in what equipment was used to perform any test given the unavailability of state testing facilities in Oregon, assuming that there are none.

I'm a little bit north of you in Clark Co. , WA and do have two trucks which are both modified and both are subject to regulatory requirements in which semi-annual testing is mandated. This is why my ears perked up when carnut57 expressed his excitement over the claimed result of reduced emissions from vehicles with the TAG device installed.

KRS,

Diesel Power Products has the results of emissions listed on their web page for the TAG. I found the numbers to be quite surprising.

KRS,

It is not a game. I ran my truck through DEQ with their blessing last year and conducted 4 test, which I can scan in and send you the results. Car-Nuts has a copy of these test in his files, as I drove up to his place and hand delivered them in person. I'm at work right now and I will see if I can find the original thread when I get home tonight. I can email you a copy if you like. The TAG does in fact drop your emissions. I wrote to Cummins Engine and informed them of my results and turned them on to Car-Nuts. I do not know if they ever contacted him or not. This was the beginning of last year. My rig gets 22. 78 mpg solid when I am on the road and keep my foot out of it. No faster than 65. I run 275's and an EZ-Comp with a BHAF filter and Rip-Rook 4 inch exhaust. My tire size is 285's which is up one from the stock 265's and I have a Abbott Ratio controller installed that allows me to correct my speedometer to any tire size I whish. My calucations are done with my palm pilot simple math by topping the tank till another drop will not go in. My speedometer is dead on with my Garmen GPS III+.

As far as more horse power, I can't say, but my mileage improved a slight bit and when I tow 7,000 lbs of trailer at 65 mph I get a very nice 18. 5 mpg. The emmission do drop.

I would be happy to meet you and you can take a look at my rig if you want.

Mundgyver,

Great! Thanks for pulling up the thread with data. I've studied it and see that there is some benefit to TAG in the area of my primary interest although I don't think that there has been enough testing to really show what the TAG can do or not do. Your truck was running very clean with or without TAG and box on or off so there wouldn't be room for much improvement.

Hopefully some heavy smoker will volunteer for testing... .....

Mundgyver, Great job on the numbers thanks for taking the time to show how the tag performs. I too have the tag from Dave and believe it to be a help. But as most people find it is hard to be sure that you are helping your cause by just putting a part on a talking your self into thinking it is a good thing. I just feel it is a help when you take off the turbo seems to spool quicker. Thanks again. Don

muddyness,it seems youre saying the tag reduced hp and torq. ---right? what is an ez?

don,

yep,,,steve s lost 7hp [i cant remember how much tq decrease with tag installed. i saw where someone else just dynoed and the tag made em lose 6hp

by ez i mean the edge timing box which adds 65hp/180tq
