I have a 2001. 5, 4x4 with the camper special group. I'm putting on airbags to help with camper stability. The camper is loaded in the truck and I need to know from those of you who are unloaded, how many inches the top leaf spring is from the bottom of the frame directly above it. The helper spring and 1" or so shim is comming out, my total distance needed is from the frame to the top real leaf spring. Anybody got a measure handy?

Thanks, Paul

Paul,

I have 4-1/2" from the top of the mainleaf, to the bottom of the frame, directly in-line with the center bolt of the springpack.

Thanks Rob, so I just measured ( with camper on ) 2" on that same mark. This means the camper compressed the leafs 2 1/2", the camper weighs 2000 lbs. Does this sound right? Seems right to me.

I was told to install the bags unloaded, this should put me at the right mark to bolt them up. I don't want to over compress the rubber and chafe the sides unnecessarily.
