I'm looking for a suspension expert in the S. E. Pennsylvania. , Delaware, northern Maryland area to work on some issues with my '02 2500. I'm considering a steering upgrade, 2 inch lift, etc. If I can't resolve the wander, float and overall effort required to drive this truck, I may have to consider a '05. Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Mike

Can't help you but thought I'd hijack the thread to see if I can find a top rate cummins mechanic in the same area. Sorry for the hijack.

Talk to Bryan(Otter) at www.whaleyent.com

He builds rock crawlers, in fact, I picked mine up yesterday. He's an awesome fabricator, and a hell of a professional guy too.

Tell him I sent you(scott karg). I'm sure he can figure it out for you. he's in Dauphin PA. BTW.

Scott,

Thanks for the info. I left Otter an email and hopefully he can help. I see you own a '98 Ram, any similar steering problems? What kind of suspension, tires, etc. ?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike- getting back to the pre hijacked question, :) Check out Kent Kroeker Kroeker Off Road Engineering (KORE). Formerly known as T-Rex. There are quite a few of us with some fine riding trucks that sound like where you want to go. Sold as a package with options, all packages are designed for our trucks by a dodge owner/racer. Good people who are worthy of my trust.

I thought we were back to the question.

But to answer your question Mike, no, I don't have any compaints with my steering at all. I've only had this particular truck for about 14K miles, so we'll see.

Otter is a good guy, I'm sure you'll here from him on Monday. :)

Mike. .

I am not sure if I can help or not but I'll try and do what I can for you. I am the second owner of a 98 Quad Cab LB 4x4 which I purchased at Manheim several years ago from a western PA dealership. The truck had 32,000 miles on it when I got it that day and as of today has now logged 110,000 miles and I have no steering issues at all. I do maintain it and service it regularly and change any part at service which seems like a problem that will appear later. The only two things other than shocks I have done to my front end is rebuild the trac bar with a Luke's Link and a urethane bushing from Energy suspension along with a new steering stabilizer shock. My truck rides straight as a arrow and has no steering wander while I drive it. All other front end parts are as they came from the factory. Now I will also admit I do not take my truck anywhere offroad and other than a occasional street thumping it sees only normal driving duties.

There are 2 very good suspension shops out here in the York,Pa area. One is National 4wd on North George Street right off I-83 and the other is located a short drive east in Wrightsville,PA called Hoaks 4wd. Both have very good reputations for quality work and are well known in the local area by most all off the offroad enthusiasts. I will add their info below for them for you if your interested.

If your somewhere near me and would like to drive my truck drop me a note as I am free most weekends. If there is anything else I can do feel free to contact me... ..... Andy

I also have an 02 2500. I went with the KORE suspension early on. Now I believe it is called the RACE package. It is awesome. It provides approximately two inches of "lift" and has allowed for 35 inch tires as well as incredible performance. Before the suspension upgrade, I had a lot of problems with the truck wandering and floating across the road. I was in a similar situation as what you are describing. I had purchased what I thought was my dream truck and then found it very uncomfortable and difficult to drive. I can honestly say I love the way my truck drives now. The ride is very controlled yet comfortable both on and off highway.
