I just got my o3-25004x4-6speed-ho, long bed I bought this truck for it's great economy---i "commute from l. a. to alaska" I know i am weird in that i won't be carrying heavy loads, loading the springs, pulling more than a 1000# . what can i do to stop the "porpoising",hopping that i get on sections of the road? It shakes my wife and me so much we can't stand it. can i put dodge 1500 springs on the rear?? just a thought. any thoughts would be appreciated!!

RNorberg, welcome to TDR, and congrats on the new truck! I'm in the same boat as you. . . I use my truck to commute more than anything!

I have about 4300 miles on my 3500 shortbed and the rear springs have softened up noticeably and the ride isn't so harsh now.

One thing that will help is to put 500 lbs or so in the bed and just leave it there. That will smooth out the ride and soften the springs, as well as giving the engine a smidgen more to work against to aid break-in. That's what I did :)

If Rancho has some RS9000's for the 2003's, you could put a set on and adjust them to suit your preference. Might help.

Also possible you're running too much air in the rear tires for your no load conditions. Check the tire inflation chart that comes with the owners manual. I think it is 40 psi unloaded but don't quote me on that.
