I'm wondering what suspension leveling setup is recommended for our trucks. I'd like to lift my front end so that it's level with the rear. I don't need or want an all around lift kit, What do you guys recommend?

Hi BrentMW
I just put the 2" leveling lik on my truck last week #ad
I got it at the local 4x4 shop about $200 and installed it my self in about 2 hours. It is just what I wanted I go in for a frontend aliment on Friday It don't feel bad just want it checked. Very Happy with it #ad

What "kit" dir you put on? What parts were included? Just curious?

BrentMW,
A few options for you. Skyjacker makes a replacemnet spring that will put you up 2". Tuff Country sells a 2" steel spacer for around $120. Daystar sells a poly-u spacer for aound $160-$170 (Personally I think the poly's are a bad idea). Rancho makes a 2" Kit that only riases the front. This kit includes new lower control arms, stonger boxed desing, but there are still stock length.

The way it appears that a lot of guys go is the 2" Skyjacker springs or a the Tuff Country (or other) 2" spacer. With only going up 2" you shouldn't need stronger control arms unless you go 4 wheeling and put some abuse on the front end.

You don't have to install new shocks, but as long as you are at it you might as well. The shocks will improve the ride over the junk stockers.

BTW there are a lot of good threads on this topic, you might want to try a search.

Brent-
I'm doing the Skyjacker replacement coil springs on Friday. Will report back. I think the phone number for info is 1-800-softride. You can order just the coil springs (have to go through a distributor). They run about $160 for the pair.
Dave.

What lift did you get and did you need any special tools to do the job?

I put in the Daystar front coil spring spacers 2" lift for 94-99 Ram 4WD (1500-3500 series) Part # DYSKC09101BK
I was told by Hoak's 4WD & RV ctr. they put many DIESELS on and had none come back.
You will need a set /2 spring compressers to hold your spring so you can get the old out and the new in ( you have to take the bolt out of the front sway bar to get the front wheel to drop to get the new spacer in.

Oasis,
Any difference in ride quality over the stock setup. I'm planning on replacin the stock shocks with a set of Bilsteins, will I need to use a longer shock to accomadate the 2" spacer?
Thanks in advance.

i just installed the tuff country 2" leveling kit on my 01 3500 with the camper/tow pkg and it sets up perfect with the rear,,any more than 2" would make the front end higher. spring compressors would have helped installation but wasn't too much trouble. my only concern is that when i'm hooked to the camper that the nose will ride high and make the steering light

Brad the ride quality is the same as stock still ferm only 9,000 miles. #ad
I was able to use the stock shocks 4x4 shop said it would be ok and so far I have had no complantes. #ad
I went to get an front end aliment today at my local tire shop and the guy had to move every thing on his machine just to get the truck on it, then could not lift the front end it's to heavy. I must go to a truck shop to get it done. My truck drives good no pull I just think it should be checked after a lift. Good luck Bomb on. #ad

PS. Brad I will be going up your way April,7 to the big ATV ride in Cochranton just below Meadvill.

Need more information..... Was the steering wheel off after your installation? Can the 2" spacer be installed without spring compressor?
Thanks!!!!
