I am looking for a leveling kit for the frontend of my 02 4x4. There are a few different kits and quite a price difference. Some kits use spacers or new coils, some have replacement arms for the lower or both - upper and lower.
I have the camper and trailer package rear springs, and I don't to change anything on them. I don't know whether to use a 2" or 3" kit.
Do you have to change out the front shocks? I have heard yes and no.
First off - welcome to the TDR - tons of good info as I'm sure you're aware.
Lots of opinions on what is "best". It really depends on a lot of factors. For me, steel coil spacers in the front work. I used a Tuff Country + my own 1. 25" spacer for a total of 3". That meant I had to lift the rear 1" to keep a decent rake. With mine I *had* to replace the shocks as they "topped out" even on the smallest bumps. For 2" *maybe* it will work. Some guys seem to be OK with it - there could be a tolerance stack-up thing (or maybe they just don't know it when it hits. ) Just kidding - trucks and lift kits/springs may be different though. Try it. If they seem too short, then drive carefully until you can order new shocks.
Again, it is my opinion is that new control arms are not required for a 2" lift. May want to consider an adjustable track bar.
